Delaware Post Game Meltdown

Running Game?
2nd game in a row they couldn’t get a first down to seal the game.
Or even attempt to run on 3rd and 2, especially if your gonna go for it or in ot from the 2. If you can’t get the 1st down on 2 tries you didnt deserve to win anyways.

.-.
Joe missed quite a few easy throws, and that miss to TE sealed our fate. Our D didn't play well all day giving up yard after yard.

Just numb right now.
And it's an easy throw that he's probably practiced 10,000 times. He throws over the wrong shoulder a lot.

The worst part? He's almost certainly our best QB...

The defense is reminiscent of Edsall 2.0

Terrible angles. Terrible tackling. Guys in the wrong spots. Dumb penalties on 3rd and 4th down. Not big enough to hold our ground at the LOS. Not fast enough in the secondary to catch anyone. Guys bouncing off shoulder pads. Heads down all the time.

Horrendous effort today. They seemed like they didn't want to be there.

It just looks like Brock is throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks with the blitz packages. It's basically gambling.

The players make terrible decisions, have no discipline and no awareness.

our offense is alright, good enough to get us enough points to have a chance every week. That would have been enough, under one critical assumption:

to have any chance at a season, we needed to play our faces off on Defense, as we did in '24. It is now glaringly obvious that Defensively, we are a shadow of our past 2 years. with the loss of jalani, pryce, jackson, Jayden mcdonald, and others, we are back to a 2021-and-prior level of Defensive talent. And in the era of NIL, that is disappointing to see. Brock showed what he can do when he's got dawgs in his pound. this year he's got nothing to work with. That's on Jim Mora and the recruiting staff. They utterly FAILED FAILED FAILED to re-tool this defense.

Given that reality, I must put us at 5-6 wins tops this year. Jim Mora deserves some grace, but this AD has to make some tough decisions this summer about whether they want to spend the money necessary to build a P4 team.

They just lost to Delaware. We have coordinators who have been exposed as completely out of their depth and have single handily cost us 2 games in nut time.

And your worried about P4.

Knowing what we know now about this team the best I can hope for is being in a bunch of shootouts where we play a fun high scoring style of offense without any real expectations of a win. Otherwise, this team (really, this program) will continue to break your heart.

x1000

JF makes these critical mistakes far foo often. He’ll play decent/okay for most of the game and that’s great, but we aren’t good enough to survive these mistakes.

Congrats gentlemen cutting the program is officially very much back on the menu. I thought those involved would have taken this more seriously. Sad!

P4 dude? LOL

Touch grass.

Who cares. The pass was short. All he had to do was tackle him and it was over. That was not good situational awareness.
That's it right there. I never got excited on that when the 3rd and 18 resulted in a 4th and 9 because knowing UConn Football the last 10+ years I said to myself "I wouldn't be surprised if Delaware converts this 4th down somehow someway" and they did. (shoulder shrug).

On the last play before the tying field goal everyone in the stadium could see Delaware was going to run it up the middle. They still got 5 or 6 yards right thru the D. Horrid.

.-.
I saw two teams, one poised and one playing tentatively. I was in K section on the 50, what a God forsaken joke. If we had converted on 4th and short late in the 4th in the red zone, game over and we win. Instead, what dejected drive home.
Convert on 4th down? Then don't throw into flat to statue TE, that can't gain a step for the close out first down. Throw to someone more athletic or smart enough to know where the first down marker is.

I hope someone asks in the post-game why you don't take the points and go up 6. It'll be a hogwash answer, but at least it'll have been asked.
Ya we were stopping them alright and the fg was near 50 on the road makeable but not automatic. I’m sure if they scored a td and won by 1 we wouldn’t all be killing Mora for it.

I’m sure Dom Amore will get right on it as he’s watching the Yankees game on his phone.

Nobody cares. If they did, today wouldn’t have happened. They talk like they care, but they don’t. Not Benedict. Not the department. Mora will do his song and dance of cliches. Nothing will change.

Some of our dline look like they've never actually played football before? Just look at their stances on some plays. They look like eight year olds. Crappy stance and then they just stand straight up and don't move anywhere. There were multiple times that a DL got blocked by a lineman and then the OL ALSO blocked the blitzing linebacker at the same time
