Defense is the Key

When this team locks down on defense they're at their best. Plain and simple. Defense won us the championship last year, fueled the comeback tonight, and will be the key if this team wants to make it back to the Final Four.

Hopefully we learn from this game and can get a consistent effort on that side of the floor.

Really the first half defense wasn't bad. Kevin Jones hit 3 3 pointers, that wasn't in the scouting report. He averages 1 make from 3 a game.

The defensive intensity in the second half won us this game. I am still not happy with how the guards have defended, but when we turn it up like that, we just take over the game with our intensity. We always play better on offense when we have success on defense. Let's hope the boys learned that tonight...

The first 3 was pretty much an open shot. The next two, AD got out there on him pretty well. The third one brought down rain.

It turned out to be nice that he fell in love with his three-pointer and got off the offensive glass. Fool's gold, as they say.

Wish JC would unleash some pressure on a more consistent basis. The flashes of the 2-2-1 press in the second half also helped spark the overall defensive effort. With our athleticism and strength, you'd think some half and full-court pressure would be effective.
