I haven't heard much about him in a while. Is Toronto still planning/considering a roster spot for him in 2015-16?

He's gotta earn it in summer league. If not, he'll be playing abroad or in the D-league next year.

He was working out at the Raptors facility yesterday. I think their original plan was to give him a shot after playing this past year in Australia.

He's a project, that's why they sent him to Australia. He really needs to pick it up if he is to make the Raptors roster. He'll have a fair shot but he has to earn it. And probably be a little lucky.

^ Good find. Listening to the broadcast it sounds like DD did not have that 'Wow' performance in the league. Not sure if its mental, physical, culture shock, or something else (or anything at all).

What was interesting (not surprising) is that the Raptors see him at the 3. Unfortunately for him he played college for 3 years at a stretch 4, and now has to adjust to a new position at a pro level. Lets just hope he is making good money while trying to get into the league.

He pretty much played the 4 like a small forward anyway.

Isn't a stretch 4 really a 3 playing out of position?
As opposed to a proto-typical PF ,burly rebounding ,put back specialist.
Stretch indicates an outside shooting ability able to stretch defenses a skill more typically found in 3s .
A strech is usually a catch and shoot guy ,while a pure three is more apt to put the ball on the floor. They may think DD has the ability to get his own shot or lacks the physicality to play the 4.

I agree. I always felt that DD was out of position but played the 4 as a necessity. His senior year I was hoping he would play the 3 more. If DD can master his handle and the small forward position he would easily be on a team in the league. He has some catching up to do.

Your comment did remind me of K-Free who played like a 4 and JC attempted to play him as a 3 his senior year. He was the burly type more than a finesse type. It didn't work out to successfully according to my recollection, but K Free was undersized for the NBA.

Guarding the 3 position is the toughest thing to do in the league. The league has never had better small forwards. Teams like the Clippers lose series because they can't guard the 3. I don't see DD being able to guard NBA 3s.

You're showing your youth! The 1980s beg to differ. Bird, Dr. J, Worthy, Dominique, Bernard King, Alex English, Marques Johnson, Dantley, Aguirre, Vandeweghe....Some of those guys didn't play much D but they were all elite scorers.

Dude's got his own bobblehead, he's famous!

I should rephrase.. "the league has never had more athletic sfs than now."
