Agreed strongly. After the Texas game in 2003, JC vowed to never get outsized again. And we sure didn't (until this year). But, like you said, in exchange for that we sacrificed skill and quickness at the 3 and the 4 in a very frustrating manner.

I hope that KO or whoever the next coach is sticks with the current lineup model when it's not merely of necessity.

I don't think KO is doing this strictly out of necessity, he played with Donny back when Donny played the 4 for us, and even Donyell back before the NBA weight gain was wiry and a live body at PF, nowhere near as skinny as either DeAndre or Roscoe but he wasn't hulking and he had great perimeter skills. KO has said he wants to go back to the style that attracted him to coming here, so I could definitely see him going more with an athlete/sleek and wing type player at the 4 in the future. Now if Emeka/CV/Josh/Sr year Hilton type players fell into his lap I'm sure he would use them as a combination together like JC did, but I don't see KO going big just for the sake of going big when our big guys the last few years couldn't even take advantage of smaller defenders on the offensive end, and then got abused on D by smaller guys on the other end. Even Facey, who the staff made a priority and KO was the lead recruiter for, is only listed at 6'8", 205lbs. Doesn't have the perimeter skills but he's an athletic guy who could probably handle guarding smaller guys at the 4.

I agree, Daniels slashing from the sides was nice and he even showed some post up ability. Scoe couldn't do that. I would like Daniels to work on a pull up shot though.
DD's defense really has impressed me. I felt the loss of RS was much worse than the loss of Alex. But the way Daniels has played defense I've reconsidered. RS is much more athletic than DD but he was one dimensional on offense. I think DD can develop the pull up shot and I expect some improvement as the season goes on with his drive to the basket. I never felt that was possible with Roscoe.

I'm not sure Roscoe was/is more athletic, he was bigger though (not saying much). The only times Roscoe drove to the hoop were to charge into someone.

DD's dunk reminded me of Lamb's last year, only against a much better team.

I think Vonleh would be amazing at the four under this system, just saying.

DD is ten times the offensive player RS was (slight exaggeration, but you get the point).
