DD did not have a particularly successful freshman campaign, obviously. I wholly expect to see a different player next year. The size, athleticism, and skill set are there. Plus a year of experience. If he does show major improvement, I like this team.

I expect him to be a double digit scorer next year, not predicting Jeremy's numbers but I expect at least 10ppg. We're going to need offense from someone next year besides Boat & Bazz, DD has the best skillset out of the remaining wings to provide that. The kid wasn't recruited by Duke, UK, Texas, & KU for nothing. I was disappointed in Scoe, DD, & Niels but I don't think people understand what it's like to be competing for playing time against pretty much 3 other players at the same spot(throw Lambo in there since he played a great deal @ the 3) and know that you pretty much have a couple of minutes to make someething happen or you're coming out and might not see the court again. I know its D1 athletics but they're still young kids, I can see how that's going to throw you off your game and affect your confidence level. Look at how AO struggled as a junior compared to his soph year when he knew he wasn't going to be handed 35 minutes no matter how tty he played and actually had to compete for minutes.

I'm glad to see people feel the same way. I'm pissed about having no post season and while I'm happy for JL and most likely AD but wish they'd stay, I think the cupboard is far from bare.

I liked what I saw early from DD. His shot really fell off.

He's one of the guys I'm most excited about seeing next year.

Im not worried about DD. i think he will make a big impact on the team next year. Because of his sisters illness, its understandable why he had the season he did. That is a huge distraction and being 3,000 miles away does not make the situation any better.

As much as I'd like to see a good team, it wouldn't bother me at all if everyone that could redshirt, did. If we had to find enough kids off campus to make up a team each game, who cares. Make a complete mockery of the NCAA punishment.

Think his family lives in CT now though his sis played for Glastonbury or something

While I like the concept of making a mockery of the NCAA, I was kind of hoping that JL and AD would come back and everyone would have wondered if the best team really won the championship next year. It would be debated for years and give the NCAA more negative pub. Oh well, we can always dream right?

When I met him, really seemed like a likable kid...hope he does well as I do all the other Huskies who are staying. I have a positive outlook on next year. I can easily see an 18-20 win season. Talent level will be lower than this year's team, but this year's group of players seldom played like a team, which leaves a huge amount of room for improvement.

I agree with all the comments here. We really NEED Daniels to step up and generate about 2/3's of what Lamb did. He will have every opportunity to play a bigger role this year and maybe he is a kid that does better when he doesn't feel like he is battling for playing time with every move he makes. He was very highly regarded coming out of high school, let's hope those geniuses had it right.

I don't get how Daniels was used last year. He was basically used as an outside gunner and had a green light, but his shooting was awful after a few good games early on. He took the 4th most 3 pointers on a team, over twice as many as Giffey despite the fact that Giffey was the leading 3 pt % shooter by a wide margin.

Even with Lamb gone, I do not want to see Daniels taking 50 3's again. I want him attacking the basket and posting up. he is a big, fast, athletic kid and he should not be hanging around the 3 point line to jack up bombs. Daniels and Boatright need to really step up defensively too.

Daniels will be a good player eventually. He just played like a freshman last year.

But, just as an FYI, in the offseason, people who watched scrimmages said he was the most accurate long distance shooter. AND, it was clear to me he lacked confidence during games because his stroke was different each time he shot. He had no consistency.

His sister lives in Manchester, CT. But yes it is a distraction nonetheless.

jibsey,

I was thinking the same thing. I think many of the teams issues last year had to do with the lack of a regular rotation. The rotation:

Boat, Bazz, Calhoun, Daniels, Giffey, Scoe, Evans, Olander, Big Man X. The team should be able to gell much quicker this year.

He needs to learn how to dribble

And he needs to play at the speed of the college game

Everything else is there for him to have the chance to be a very good player

I'm hoping we play him as a face-up 4 next year. It will mask his ball handling issues and he should have some favorable matchups.

The biggest problem he has is lack of strength and athleticism. He looked a step slow all year. Really going to have to become an incredible shooter to contribute much of anything in the Big East.

Agree on the strength but he has above-average athleticism.

He came in with a reputation as an excellent outside shooter so I don't have a problem with the # of 3's. Next year we may need him to shoot many more of them. He's just going to have to make more. I'm not so sure about him posting up anybody. I thought his biggest weakness last year was that he lacked strength.

On what planet? He's slow, isn't some freakish dunker, can't beat a man off the dribble, doesn't play good defense. I have no idea how he got so high in the rankings unless he becomes the second coming of Rashad next year.

I've seen him practice and scrimmage and he definitely has a beautiful shot from outside. He was visibly rattled at times last year and later in the season when he would hit a big 3 it seemed that on his next shot he would be over excited and overshoot every time. With more playing time, these things tend to resolve themselves so there is definitely room for DD to step his game up from the outside. Some kids can easily temper their excitement and nervousness and others struggle with it. Hopefully Daniels can learn to be a little better in this area.
