Can vouch for BT’s. Great place.

Don’t think my wife would be thinking that for our anniversary though.
Once you’re in Union may as well head up to Treehouse.

The Glass House in New Canaan is cool. But I'm not sure it's open Tuesday.
You could bring a nice bottle of wine and have lunch at the Blue Oar in Haddam. Pretty good food right along the Connecticut River.

Blue Oar is a gem! Nice quiet little spot, have only gone there for lunch but I imagine that it gets pretty busy on a nice summer or fall evening.

The only thing worthwhile about Sturbridge is it's close to Tree House Brewing Co. and BT's Smokehouse is excellent BBQ. Hardly a romantic day with the wife. But an excellent trip with the boys.

Tree House is about 10 minutes from my house, I think it's overrated but I am not a big craft beer guy. Sturbridge really is like the land that time forgot. That creepy grocery store with the giant bunny on 169 is always a sight to see.

I recently discovered the Borough of Stonington, it is a hidden gem and only about a 5 minute ride from Mystic Seaport. Those two places would make for a great day trip.I recently ate at the Dog Watch Cafe and the S&P Oyster Bar in that area and both places were outstanding and provided great waterside dining.
The Mystic/Stonington area is a great part of the state, especially during the summer. It has everything, good restaurants, good wineries, you have the casinos, and its right near the water. Thats the perfect spot to spend a summer weekend in CT, and there are plenty of hotels to choose from in the area. Everything is really close to each other and it’s also a short drive out to RI to spend a day at the beach.

A drive up into Litchfield with dinner at Arethusa al tavolo. Stop at Haight-brown or Sunset Meadow vineyards.
A lot of people like Sunset Meadow, but I think the wine at Connecticut Valley Winery is some of the best I ever had. Easily the most unique wine you will ever try. If you like wine, you need to go there.

Have not done enough exploring of the wineries around here, 6 or 7 close by and have only been to Sunset Meadow.

Not CT and only 2 of these places are close enough for a day trip, but I just saw this article in an e-mail I got and figured I'd post it.

Walk/bike/hike at the MDC Reservoir in West Hartford and then get lunch/dinner/dessert somewhere in West Hartford center.
