I swear, this is not OT. (Maybe a bit.) If this has been brought up before, I’m sorry. Missed it.
What was Dawn Staley thinking when dressing for her important game on April 7, 2025, the NCAA championship?
If you forgot, her sweater, or whatever it was she wore, screamed “LV.” When I first saw her, I thought “WTF?” Lady Vols? Was this a deliberate attempt to get into Huskies’ heads, to get an edge? A reminder of the Huskies last, dreadful, disgusting defeat? Or just to confuse them?
If so, congratz to Dawn. Yet the tactic failed. Her team couldn’t derail its devastating downfall.
However, she at times comes across as fun-loving. Playful. Perhaps she just was trying to lighten the mood. Chip away at the moment’s tension. I would expect that Geno would appreciate the gimmick/joke. I did.
Did anyone else wonder about her “LV” top at the time?
Perhaps it was just coincidence (ha, ha, ha). A fashion statement. The huge “LV” was a merely a Louis Vuitton reference (which it was, it turns out). That seems doubtful ... odd, far-fetched ... considering the venue. OTOH, Dawn’s paycheck might warrant showing off for the big game, the huge audience. A challenge to Mulkey? A tribute to Pat?
What’s your take? Did you even notice? What do you think the team(s) made of it, if they even were aware? Was it mentioned by big shot commentators at any time?
Is my imagination running wild? The season is far off still.
