David Pindell

Skanes was a QB in HS as well. I believe he led his team to a Chicago Public League championship his senior year.
Yes but I think he only played that it out of necessity if my memory is right. He was a WR before his senior year

Yes this is correct because all of those are the same as actual game action.
So are you suggesting that the first games should be de facto try outs at every position, because preseason camp isn't the same as an actual game? Because that is a really interesting take.
I am not advocating to move DP but this is a "what if" scenario on a message board which is perfectly acceptable. The OP asked if it is possible that HCRE would move DP to another skill position if we lost the next two games?
Yep and I answered his question. That's pretty much how message boards work, right?
You responded that it would be a disaster since DP was the glue holding the team together. I just pointed out that so far we haven't come close to a FCS win (and if we lose the next two as per the OC) then how tragic could it be?
Have you noticed how our underclassmen have been doing on defense this year? There's a reason why coaches don't field teams of freshmen unless they have no choice. A few snaps in a blow out is fine. Starting QB? You really aren't doing those kids any favors.
At 1-5 I think it is possible that HCRE may want to see what the future holds at QB.
Well I guess we'll see what Randy does, but I strongly doubt he's given up on the season 4 games in.

Not going to bother to respond to your inane read, I hope we start winning and root for the team no matter what.

At 1-5 I think it is possible that HCRE may want to see what the future holds at QB. I think that it would make sense to do so rather than try and win another game or two and enter next Spring without any idea how these guys perform in real game situations.

By asking the question you are giving it legitimacy.
By "how tragic could it be" question I refer you no farther back in history to our own FHCBD1.0 and his starting a freshman QB, it can get pretty tragic for the individual player and the team.
"rather than try and win another game or two", you realize there are only 12 games and at your theoretical 1-5, 1 or 2 wins would be up to 1/3rd of the remaining season. Don't you think that might "help" team development, recruiting, buy in, etc. Can't think of the last time a UConn football team won 1 game, even FHCBD1.0 won 2 games in his practice year.

So there's a good chance this may have been discussed but, after mumbling it to friends a few times and then seeing the run at Syracuse, Pindell is by far the fastest player on the team and is electric with the ball in his hands. Do you guys think it's possible if we lose the next two games that Edsall/Dunn move him to a scat back or slot receiver and slide MW or Krajewski in under center? To me it makes sense to get the next QB ready and possibly even maximize Pindell's speed and maybe even get him a NFL practice squad tryout (assuming he has decent hands).
There’s a difference between fact and opinion- especially when there’s not enough facts to back up the statement. Line Pindell up with even just a FEW of our best receivers (I.e Hergy, Keyion, Buss) and have them run just ONE 40-yard dash so we can put this to rest for good.

Make it a spring game event, like midnight madness.

In addition to slot receiver, can we also pencil him in at CB and the return game could use a spark too

Pindell is the only good player on the the roster.

This thread was always stupid and it only gets more stupid with time, and with DP's performance when fully healthy.

Yes, everything being equal you'd love to have next year's QB have more rather than less experience. But what this team needs more than anything over the last 5 games is to learn to believe that they are capable of winning football games.

The best thing for the TEAM is to try to win every game. Goofing around with novelties or putting in people who can't crack the lineup of the worst team in FBS, isn't that.

I like a healthy Pindell to take as many snaps as possible to give UConn the best chance to win.

The past few weeks showed a limited Pindell doesn't give UConn a chance to win and also games have gotten out of hand where even a healthy Pindell doesn't affect the outcome. In those cases, play a back up to get experience.

I agree, I wish Pindell had an extra year. With the experience the O-Line will gain we could possibly make it to a bowl game with him under center. Since he graduates, and not going to the NFL, let the other qb’s play.

What other QB should have played last night?

The 4th year former walk on not being invited back next year?

The true freshman who has never played a down?

They lost a conference game by 8 on the road BECAUSE THE SENIOR QUARTERBACK IS PRETTY GOOD.

Let’s put the best player on the team on the bench. Maybe we can get to 1-11.

not to mention, it's a good way to make any future juco or grad transfer think twice about coming here. it would be a pretty lousy thing to do. You willfully come into a dumpster fire, are the best player on the team, do everything you can to help salvage a miserable season, and you get put on the bench. lol. and all your upperclassmen now hate you because you're not giving the team the best chance to win the last games of their career.

It has nothing to do with last night. We might go 1-11 WITH Pindell under center. It hasmore to do with moving forward and building this program from the ground up. I’m not saying to bench Pindell completely but we can use his talents elsewhere. Pindell is an athlete, that is the best QB out of what we’ve seen so far. It is no disservice to him to rotate other qb’s and see where we stand. DP can stay in the game. How huge would that be to have Pindell and Mensah in the backfield. I’m sure all the other qb’s are capable of handing off the ball.

life may or may not be good - but your posts suck outloud

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, like yours about grad students or JUCO players coming here. How many JUCO students did RE take in his last Recruiting class? As far as grad students go we have Fines from Miami. How is that working out? I believe Edsall said he doesn’t want transfers for only one year because he wants to rebuild the team.

As far as you saying that my posts suck out loud, maybe that’s because you had one too many during happy hour.

If you want to debate me have the decency to quote me.

Moving Pindell from QB to another position is Diaco level stupid.

Find another angle.

I misread JMick’s post as yours. David Pindell is a very gifted athlete that gets things done with his legs. If this program is to succeed it’s not going to happen in the next five games. DP will not be here next year and whoever takes his place needs to get experience or we will be no better off than we are right now.

Next year becomes a lot worse if you bench one of the team's leaders who's also your best offensive player (and the best at his position since the program's G.O.A.T.). As others have stated, that sends an awful message to your returning players and recruits.

Spoiler alert: If someone on the current roster plays QB next year... 2-10 is the upside.

No, it is not because he was drunk. It's because his analysis of your posts is dead on correct.

I don’t even have a position on JUCOs or grad transfers other than we need better players however they get here.

I don’t think you can run a Kansas State/Boise State out of the Northeast because we are too far away from JUCO prospects.

Even with that limititation the two best QBs since Orlovsky were JUCO transfers.

Pindell is the best we have to offer and hold the team together. He’s a playmaker with an average arm but great feet. He’s exactly where he needs to be for what we have to work with. Like Sheriffs, greatly under appreciated for what he gets done.
