The moment we walked into the house and neither her mother nor grandmother were home, she melted into tears, constant mantra repetition about wanting mommy, doing anything & everything she could to dis and dismiss me. Then, after mommy returned home, and pronounced her "over tired" and put on an animated Disney movie about a horse named "Spirit," peace returned. When granddaughter was informed that Poppy was leaving, she turned to the door, waved, and happily bid me goodbye. She'd already acknowledged that we'd had earlier fun, and she thanked me for picking her up, with specificity and in language I'd never quite heard before.
