Dan Orlovsky Lands Football Analyst Role With ESPN

Sources say that former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky has agreed to be a football analyst with ESPN. The job, according to one source, would be more college football studio, but with some NFL as well. Orlovsky played his college ball near Bristol, at UConn. He was on four NFL teams during his 10-year career, spending the most time with the Lions. CBS, among others, also talked with Orlovsky about a job.

The former UConn quarterback will work with Clay Matvick and Paul Carcaterra this season on ESPN/ESPN2 games, including both Friday night and Saturday games. The former NFL veteran will also appear in studio during the season, including on college football-centric shows, SportsCenter and Get Up!, offering his opinion on both college and professional football. He is expected to contribute to ESPN Radio during football season.

The Connecticut native started games at quarterback in all four years for the Huskies and still holds a number of school records including touchdown passes and passing yards. Orlovsky led the Huskies to their inaugural bowl victory following his junior season in 2003 before embarking on an 11-year career in the NFL following his senior season.

I asked him if he would be doing AAC games and he said that hasn’t been decided yet. If he’s doing Friday nights though I would assume he would be in the AAC slot since we have games then. Would be cool to see him call UConn @Memphis
