50% of the returning roster considering leaving is probably true for every program. Be glad it is not 100%.
To date have we lost anyone who really ended up hurting us? I'll answer my own question, no not yet.
Imagine how bad Rutgers felt losing Spencer.
100% is - for the large majority of these kids that have no future monetizing professionally they ate obligated to squeeze every ounce of their collegiate opportunity.50% of the returning roster considering leaving is probably true for every program. Be glad it is not 100%.

2023 the only meaningful minutes we returned were sanogo, Hawkins and Jackson. Solo and Reed would go a long way towards a similar type of returning core
Most times, you enter the portal when you know you are leaving. You don’t have to enter to know your options. That’s the point, these kids already know that.Entering the portal doesn’t necesarily mean you leave. You can withdraw. Right?
Almost seems crazy that 100% don‘t enter. Seems like its a way to explore your options and determine your value is on the open market. If your school wants you back, and another school will pay more, you use that for a raise.
Isn’t that exactly what Hurley did when he was speaking with the Lakers?
Exactly. Also, the 50% may exclude those that are out of eligibility / going to the NBA for sure. If this is the case we’re talking about a couple of players.Think there’s an easy 3-5 who won’t be here next year. Not really hard to picture who.
Isn't that the problem though? Should coaches of other teams be allowed to talk with players on the current team mid season? You aren't allowed to openly communicate with other players under contract in professional sports or else you get hit with a tampering charge ala the Miami Dolphins / Tom Brady situation a few years back. Most times, you enter the portal when you know you are leaving. Absolutely. I think we’re going to see high school recruiting massively improve at mid majors because P5 teams are going to stop wasting time recruiting 4 stars that would need to sit a year or two to be productive. Those kids will be forced to go to a mid major where they can play right away and will then transfer to a P5 team when they’re ready. Rinse and repeat. You really have to know that a HS recruit can contribute off bench year 1 and start year 2 for them to be worth any ounce of investment. Otherwise keep to the portal.
I don’t know about all coaches, but most of this in season stuff is done by intermediaries. An assistant talks to an agent who then calls the players inner circle.Isn't that the problem though? No one from another coaching staff should be allowed to talk to our kids while they are currently still playing. These are some of the guard rails the NCAA needs to start implementing. Including back channel discussions with parents. Harsher penalties should be enforced if stuff like that comes out.
The question is moot. There's no repercussions for trying.Isn't that the problem though? Should coaches of other teams be allowed to talk with players on the current team mid season?
Could you imagine managing and enforcing this? You’d need an army.Isn't that the problem though? Should coaches of other teams be allowed to talk with players on the current team mid season? That's not going to happen because neither side will want it. Coaches aren't going to want to be stuck with bad playersCould you imagine managing and enforcing this? You’d need an army.
What needs to happen very quickly is longer term contracts.
I don't follow football that much but did anything ever come from Mora's complaint about tampering?Isn't that the problem though? And yet we aren’t allowed to discuss it on this site
