Dallas Wings win 2026 WNBA draft lottery, to select No. 1
Center Awa Fam of Spain is projected to go No. 1 in ESPN's latest mock draft, with UCLA center Lauren Betts slotted in at No. 2. TCU's Olivia Miles, UConn's Azzi Fudd, and LSU's Flau'jae Johnson round out the rest of the projected lottery picks.
Wings again win WNBA draft lottery, to pick No. 1
For the second year in a row, the Dallas Wings will select first in the 2026 WNBA draft after winning the draft lottery Sunday.
If they want a post I'd go with Awa Fam
Man, Betts is a gamble. The WNBA is full of versatility and she just isn't versatile at all. She has no game outside the paint, she isn't a great passer from the high post, and she lacks speed. She is a massive presence and a great college player, but to me, she is just slightly better versions of Kalani Brown and Tierra McCowan.

I do think it makes sense for the staff to get Paige's opinion about the #1 pick.
But it shouldn't be her call. The GM and coach have the resources to examine all
possibilities in great detail with team success as their priority with nothing personal
getting in the way. I bet that Paige herself is looking at winning WNBA rings much moreso
than who she is in a relationship with.
I wonder: Ogunbowale is clearly very talented....but maybe not the best fit on the roster.
If Azzie is considered the right pick by the staff I wonder if they might inquire about a trade of Ogunbowale and a nice
package...if needed... to the teams with a high pick...say #2 or #3. Then select Azzie and a very promising 'big'...it seems they
clearly need one and if a trade can be made Dallas winds up with both Azzie and their future inside stud.
The other team gets a scorer who can drop 30 on you...and maybe someone else in a potential package to
deal with some weakness on their own team. Winner/Winner?
I recall Geno telling Azzie while recruiting her that she should NOT come to UConn because Paige is here and she
should come because it is the right school for her...Paige or no Paige.
