D1 WCBB Games this weekend (Oct 25-27)?

New era of Missouri basketball is underway. Sounds pretty cool. Would be funny if Missouri's freshmans end up being just as good as Mississippi State or South Carolina's.

Arkansas beat Pittsburg State 97-63.
Dungee with 26, Ramirez with 23, Fr PG Daniels with 17, Tolefree with 13.

Pittsburg State then turned around and beat Kansas 90-82.
Ouch for KU.

One team that was underwhelming today was Middle Tennessee State in a 64-53 win over an NAIA team. Granted, Bethel (of Tennessee) is ranked in the top 25 in NAIA Div. 1, but still.

The Hayes sisters (Anastasia and Aislynn) scored 14 each, but Anastasia shot only 4-16 from the field.
Rellah Boothe played only 13 minutes off the bench and was 1-5 for 3 points.
Losing Eternati Willock was a killer. She was so good.

Not a good sign for Kansas. They lost today to Pittsburg State, 92-82.
Pitt State shot 52% from the field, including 13 of 26 from the arc.

This same team lost to Arkansas last Thursday, 97-63.

What did you expect... have you ever seen a Gorilla? Have you ever seen a Jayhawk? ;)

I was just thinking a few minutes earlier... there is usually at least one of these upsets in Exhibition season. There was another "Power 5" team lost maybe last year or the year before... Penn State?

You may be thinking of Pitt? IUP beat them last year two years ago.

This one wasn't P5, but Marquette lost to Grand Valley State last year. Creighton was taken to 2OT by an NAIA team this year.

We played Houston at a very under-the-radar scrimmage yesterday. Nothing much has been posted on our twitter about it, but our insiders claimed that:

MSU won by 26 points after trailing at the half.
Rickea Jackson had 21 points and shot 80 percent from the field.
Danberry had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists
Promise Taylor played 13 minutes and had 5 blocked shots.

We also had a lot of turnovers.

Dang. At least give a citation for the plagiarism.

I didn't claim it was my work. I said "our insiders claimed...."

This is not relevant in my eyes. Thanks for playing.

Just curious: do you know where this scrimmage was played?

You will have a GREAT feeling when you get to see them play. I just returned from the game. These 2 x freshman are soooo good already. Jones is a monster of a defender, and fearless. Jones is 6' 4", and long arms that make her a 6' 8" mobile post. Very good hands, and always keeps the ball above her head. Kennedy Brown played pretty well too. Jones was the star of the game today. Taya Corosdale, Kat Tudor, and Jelena Mitrovic did not suit up today. Albeit, it was against a D2 school, for their 1st game of the season, these 2 freshman were better than any post OSU had on the floor last year.

The work ethic of OSU frosh Taylor Jones is already making waves in Corvallis. She apparently sought out Pivec as a training partner to run additional hills with, do sand jumping training, and do stadium steps with in order to improve her conditioning outside of practice. Fans will clearly notice her extremely long arms and extended reach (reportedly 7'2") for a 6'4" female.

Only one exhibition game in to her college career, Jones is already a Gill Coliseum fan favorite. She plays the game the right way. Rugged, yet clean. An easy player to root for.

Oregon's Hebard is the class of the PAC-12 returning bigs and a projected first round 2020 WNBA draft pick. Should OSU frosh Taylor Jones learn to stay out of foul trouble at the collegiate level, OSU may have a mobile big laterally quick enough to make Hebard go to her left. Hebard is a bucket machine going to her right if she gets a step on her defender. Jones and her fellow OSU frosh Kennedy Brown (6'6") will both be expected to grow up quickly for the Beavers to challenge Oregon and Stanford in the PAC-12 this season.
