CV has become Uconn's go-to guy by far.

It’s Purvis stepping out of bounds and Brimah not being able to finish. People key in on one mistake a player makes in their early years, and they’re simply unable to acknowledge when the player grows out of it.
Love Purvis but he got caught out of bounds his entire career

Did you watch the game? He played really bad and actually had 4 bad shots in the half. He wasn't looking for a wide open Josh down under on one possession and forced up a bad contested 2. Unfortunately many of us remember CV from last year who wanted to win games with one shot. Luckily he was much better in the second half. I agree CV has been much better than last year but he is still a limited player. Can't take his man off the dribble and create for others. He has to hit outside shots and crash the boards to get his points. We are all glad his decision making is improving this year and hope he comes back but calling him the go-to-guy is laughable. I I personally think Josh is that right now.

I never called him the go-to-guy and I'm not arguing that point. We have two point guards on the roster and both were hurt for the game. Vital is a shooting guard; he's not supposed to be good at running the point. I wouldn't expect him to block shots either; that's not his role. But to knock his three-point shooting in a season where he's shooting 42% and in a game where he shot 50% just makes no sense.

If he's coming off the bench we're back to being UConn.

He reminds me of the kind of senior guard you see in the NCAA tournament that kills the big programs. I agree with the poster that said he's a really good 3rd guard. When another team puts their best defender on him or he becomes the other team's main focus on defense then you see some of his deficiencies.

Again I was just explaining why people felt it. I do agree with the posters who said he played bad in the first half after Jalen went down. The thing is he really turned it around in the second half and was very refreshing to see. It was that he was forcing shots when he wasn't open because he was being double covered. In the second half he used that to his advantage and got the ball to Josh on pick n' rolls that really helped us out. Vital has been great this year but he did hit an understandable rut in the first half after the Jalen injury. Just brought flashbacks of the old Vital to some.

I have no problem with saying Christian forces shots sometimes. Hard for me to knock him for that in a game where both of the PGs on our roster were hurt. I was more arguing the 3 point argument that was made earlier in this thread. You could ding Vital for that last year; but not this year or even in last night's game.
