CV has become Uconn's go-to guy by far.

CV was 2-4 on 3s in the first half.

Again, where does this perception of him chucking up a bunch of bad shots from deep come from? I agree he did it last year, but he's been worlds better this season.
Read my post again. I said he started the half hitting his first two 3's. It just that he ended the half 0-4 having both of 3 point shots being really forced. It just looked bad for the leader on the court and reminded many of us of last year CV. Of course playing with Sid, Brendan, Polley and Tarin is tough on him. I just told you why it felt worst than it actually was. I also said he was much more in control in the second half and played great pick n' roll with Josh Carlton.

It’s Purvis stepping out of bounds and Brimah not being able to finish. People key in on one mistake a player makes in their early years, and they’re simply unable to acknowledge when the player grows out of it.

It was two shots he missed. He's having one of the better three-point seasons in UConn history, and people are harping on two missed shots. It doesn't make any sense.

Has CV won a game without Jalen? No. Has CV even keep them competitive without Jalen over the years? No. When he had a chance to beat Cinci with the game on the line, did he win it? No. Alterique’s floater brought us to OT. CV fumbled in the clutch.

He has certainly improved with better shot selection. He can shoot off curls now and perform a pump-fake, one dribble pull-up with decent accuracy, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Jalen and Alterique take pressure and defenders away from CV, allowing more open shots, which leads to a higher percentage. Let’s see this week if he can pull off an upset without the two best players on the team before he say he’s the go-to. He is, however, the emotional and toughness leader of this team by far.

Did you watch the game? He played really bad and actually had 4 bad shots in the half. He wasn't looking for a wide open Josh down under on one possession and forced up a bad contested 2. Unfortunately many of us remember CV from last year who wanted to win games with one shot. Luckily he was much better in the second half. I agree CV has been much better than last year but he is still a limited player. Can't take his man off the dribble and create for others. He has to hit outside shots and crash the boards to get his points. We are all glad his decision making is improving this year and hope he comes back but calling him the go-to-guy is laughable. I I personally think Josh is that right now.

I never called him the go-to-guy and I'm not arguing that point. We have two point guards on the roster and both were hurt for the game. Vital is a shooting guard; he's not supposed to be good at running the point. I wouldn't expect him to block shots either; that's not his role. But to knock his three-point shooting in a season where he's shooting 42% and in a game where he shot 50% just makes no sense.

If he's coming off the bench we're back to being UConn.

He reminds me of the kind of senior guard you see in the NCAA tournament that kills the big programs. I agree with the poster that said he's a really good 3rd guard. When another team puts their best defender on him or he becomes the other team's main focus on defense then you see some of his deficiencies.

Again I was just explaining why people felt it. I do agree with the posters who said he played bad in the first half after Jalen went down. The thing is he really turned it around in the second half and was very refreshing to see. It was that he was forcing shots when he wasn't open because he was being double covered. In the second half he used that to his advantage and got the ball to Josh on pick n' rolls that really helped us out. Vital has been great this year but he did hit an understandable rut in the first half after the Jalen injury. Just brought flashbacks of the old Vital to some.

I have no problem with saying Christian forces shots sometimes. Hard for me to knock him for that in a game where both of the PGs on our roster were hurt. I was more arguing the 3 point argument that was made earlier in this thread. You could ding Vital for that last year; but not this year or even in last night's game.
