I wonder if this year's roster might might have the most UConn players that will find their way to the NBA. Reed doesn't fit the modern NBA big, but he might find his way on a roster. Reibe fits the modern game. Stewart and Ross have a lot of untapped ability that might find their way eventually. Alex will carve a role somewhere. Demary has the all-around game to get there. Ball has a chance if he can figure out how to minimize his weaknesses and maximize his strengths. Mullins is a no-brainer. That's 8, time will tell.

If a player with the physical measurables in college doesn’t average a good clip or shoot 3s well, I don't think there's room in the league.
Maybe Mullins from this roster. Very good team but light on next level talent

I think people who see the NBA in Reed’s future are dreaming. What does he do that is NBA level? Good college center but the NBA plays a different game
I think people who speak with certainty that Reed has no NBA future because of "the NBA game" don't actually watch the NBA on a nightly basis and have a misconception that all NBA centers shoot 3s and dribble. There are plenty of utility bigs on benches that are tasked with screening, rim running, switching on defense, rebounding, and rim protecting. Reed is not Sanogo, he is actually better equipped to do those things at the next level than Sanogo was. I've seen Trey Jamison bounce around a couple of rosters the past few years just being a big body and Reed is a better player than him.

Yep. And not just benches. Lot of chatter about Celtics trading for Zubac, who’s a traditional center. Good D, rebounding, and post game. Doesn’t really stretch the D.

Realistically Mullins is the only 1st rounder.

Karaban, Reed, Jr. can make it in the NBA, but as serviceable pieces from the bench. Reed might, if he shows more this year, be a good backup C or perhaps a PF with a team that has a 7' C.

Silas? Would have to show a lot more 10+ assist games and scoring around 10-12.

Solo? Has got to check all 3 boxes of scoring and maybe he gets a backup shooting guard spot on a team that doesn't value defense as much.

Reibe has a chance if he adds a little more muscle. He definitely has the foowork and length. Also, if he adds a consistent 3 point shot he definitely has a great chance of making with his present skills.

I think Reed has the skillset to be a fringe NBA player, but I don’t think he has the mindset, so unfortunately I don’t think he will stick. But hope I am wrong.

Karaban is an interesting case. He will likely get abused on defense (with his lack of lateral quickness for his size), but will his offense make up for that? He is extremely limited off the bounce so he is basically going to be a spot up shooter / connective passer.

3 inches taller and significantly better underlying numbers on the defensive end.

Also, the folks in this thread who think Karaban's not an NBA guy are insane.
Yeah Reed is physically an NBA center. Sanogo was the Jeff Adrien of centers size wise. But centers are way too good physically talented these days to get away with having that much of a size disadvantage.

Mullins is obvious.

Karaban may be able to scratch out a role we’ll see.

If Stewart and Ross can develop or show some sort of consistency next year, I can see them having a better chance to stick than Karaban tbh. They have the physical tools.

Stewart and Ross have next to no chance. Karaban has a fighting chance. What has Stewart and Ross showed us consistently that would make them NBA players? They are good role players here but probaly headed to Europe at best.

Mullins should get as good a shot as Grady D.

Reed depends fully on his measurables. If he’s 6’11 he’ll get a shot.

Karaban will find a spot somewhere on the bench at least.

Silas depends, but he’s shown a lot the last few games. There are backups with similar games in the league.

Ball has all the athleticism but his height will always be an issue. Sadly I’d say he has the least chance of the starters this year.

Stewart/Ross all depend on next year. I could see either or neither.

If Reibe is 7’0 he’s getting a spot somewhere at some point, but not this year.

They’re an interesting case. They haven’t had the role or minutes yet to show their stuff. But the physical traits are there.

They pretty much have a year to prove it which could be next year.

No one in the NBA cares about college stats. They base their assessment on potential.

I don't see a lot of NBA talent on this roster other than Mullins & AK. Mullins is obvious. AK simply because he's a sound cerebral all around player.

Reed - he's a physical beast at the college level, but remains so inconsistent and unrefined. I don't think he has enough physicality given the shortcomings to play at the next level. His style also lacks fit at the NBA level. Reibe feels like a better prospect based on today's game.

Solo - a shortish SG with slow feet defensively really doesn't fit in the NBA.

Ross & Stew - it's not their junior year and they are solid role players. There is not enough there. Maybe one makes an incredible leap into their senior year, but have yet to see anything that would suggest they do.

First of all, what are we considering an NBA player? If it's anyone who has played minutes in the NBA than I think we have 5 or 6 guys. Tristen already fits into that category (I expect him to turn into a full time NBA bench player.) Daniel Hamilton, Rodney Purvis, Jerome Dyson, Amida Brimah, Sanogo all fit into that category.

There's right around a dozen true 7'0 footers in the NBA, it isn't going to hurt Reibe when he measures less than 7'0 without shoes and it won't hurt Tarris when he measures less than his 6'11 listed height.

In my view-

Mullins is obviously going to be an NBA player.

Reibe is obviously going to be an NBA player.

Karaban- He'll be drafted late first round or early second round so he will get some minutes. If he can guard at all at the NBA level he will carve out a role as a bench player. If he can't he will play very little before he's out of the league.

Silas will be an NBA player. I see him as a backup point guard.

Tarris will get at least a cup of coffee in the league. At worst he's in that Purvis/Daniel Hamilton role of getting some NBA minutes and then out of the league.

Solo has a chance as a microwave scorer if he regains his three point shot and can guard, it's a slim chance. If he does it will be in that Purvis/Daniel Hamilton role of getting some NBA minutes and then out of the league.

I see Mullins as the only for sure high impact NBA player, a starter who makes a name for himself in the league. Reibe has a chance at being an NBA starter someday.
