We are all pretty familiar with UConn's amazing stat about how long it's been since consecutive losses.
Since the Bascomb era, we know that UConn has administered some ridiculous beatings on even some relatively high ranked teams. On the other side of that coin, does anyone know what the biggest margin of loss UConn has suffered since Bascomb, or maybe more relevant, Lobo, came onto the scene?

Also, UConn almost never loses to teams where on paper it would be a huge upset, particularly an unranked team. It has been a long time since the game where UConn lost completely unexpectedly to Syracuse when, I think players like Amy Duran were on the team. I can't recall anything more recent than that. The losses to ND, Rutgers, Stanford in the past 10 or 11 years and the NCAA tournament losses in the second to last or last weekend of the tournament I don't see as being in a totally out of the blue category. I will say, the most disappointing loss I saw in person, albeit to a pretty good team, was the meltdown game against Duke in Hartford where Duke won on a buzzer beater long 3. UConn folded in that game in a way they basically never do.

Jan 23, 1999, 78-66 loss at Boston College. The '99 team had a few problems but they would beat BC at home a few weeks later by 30. A total, "Wait, that just happened?" game.

We used to be really competitive with Rutgers. There was a Villanova game that was a shocker, at least to me.

Another shocker, frankly, was the recent ND loss. OK, it was by 1 point, but none of us, even the most learned among us, saw this one coming.

Villanova game in the BE tournament was a pretty big shocker as well was that 2003 or 2004? It ended up being a good loss in that it got the team refocused for the NCAA, but no one expected them to challenge let alone win.

In '92, Lobo's freshman season, Vanderbilt won by 28. More recently, the worst losses came between the Diana and Maya eras (which isn't surprising). In '05, Stanford by 17. In '06, UNC by 23. In '07, LSU by 23.

That was followed by a loss to BC in the Big East semi-final, which was also a shock.

I believe that Ivory Latta was able to boast that UNC beat UConn in each of her four years at UNC. I remember the first loss, when Ketia and Mel were freshmen and UConn really had no experience at all in the backcourt. While Nicole Wolff was a good defender, she was no match for Latta.

That was the game where Coach Haskell was overwhelmed when the partisan UConn crowd gave Latta an ovation as she left the game with a few minutes left and UNC up by twenty-something. She continued to mention that for years afterward as something that she had not experienced at any other away game.

The UNC beatdown was bad.

Also L to unranked Arizona St early in 04-05 season.

Really cool how the losses end in 2008....:)

That UNC game at UConn was the most one-sided loss I've seen. Latta et al. we're too athletic for us. Only Kalana could compete. But then we got Tina, Maya, Tiffany, et al.

Yeah, we still have one class--Maya and Lorin--who never lost in the State of Connecticut. Hartford, Storrs, Bridgeport, regular season, BET, NCAAs. Quite a legacy.
