Chiney (please note the spelling) did not play because Coach Miller does not want to stress her knees unnecessarily in an exhibition game. He is also trying to spare the injuries of Morgan and Rachel Banham, but they are rookies and he needs to see them in live game action. That was reported in some of the articles that have been cited.

The coach said that he expects Chiney to be going at 100% capacity when the regular season starts.

Neither Chiney nor Morgan will play on Sunday in Dallas. Morgan is graduating, and as JoePgh said, Miller said they are holding Chiney out until the regular season

[Morgan] Tuck drew her second straight start, filling in for Chiney Ogwumike, who was held out once again. The Sun coaches and medical staff are being cautious with the former WNBA Rookie of the Year, who is coming off microfracture surgery on the knee. Sun coach Curt Miller said Ogqumike could be held out of the preseason finale against Dallas. Tuck, who is graduating from UConn, will also miss the game.
