Are there any SUN fans out there who can explain what the team is doing? Many season ticket holders are very upset. They have no problem raising our prices and then getting rid of all our quality players.

Well, I was a Sun fan while living in CT. But I have no idea. Someone suggested tanking… but for what? They were bound to lose some of their free agents… but entire starting lineup? Returns in trades don’t excite me. I mean, clearly they want to get younger… but all at once? Makes me think Stephanie White knew what was coming when she left?

Maybe their plan, with the Belgian coach, is to sign a bunch of European players and rebuild from there?

sun will eventually move to boston. JMHO.

As I said before, "somethin' ain't right" in the land of the setting Sun. It started with the hiring of a coach no one heard of and now the entire starting 5 is gone. Morgan and Jen owe the fans an explanation of what the heck they are thinking/planning!

The communication with the fans, especially the season ticket holders is terrible. The website does not report anything.

All 5 starters who left were free agents of various classes. Becoming a free agent is obviously a right that players in all sports leagues covet, as they can choose both the teammates they play with and the city they live in. Again obvious, but this makes them like any normal American citizen able to choose job and location.

All 5 players had communicated to management that they preferred to play elsewhere in 2025. Why?

Just want to try free agency.

Don't like current practice facilities.

Prefer to live in a big city vs rural.

Coach White is gone, and others leaving, so we will not be competitive.

Sun management used all available options to retain some control over the process. Using core and restricted free agent rules, they were able to work trades to at least get compensation for some players they are losing, instead of just watching them walk.

2025 will be tough, but team will now be a lot younger, draft is a good opportunity, and they can get ready to make serious moves for 2026 after new CBA is finalized.

Remains to be seen if mgt is able to address any player concerns. Also communication to season ticket holders could be improved!

If you follow European basketball, you've heard of Rachid Meziane.

Who follows European basketball coaches? CT folk might follow their fav UConn players in Europe, but certainly the coach's names are not on the tip of their tongues or top of their minds!

Not to be a wise poster, but I've known about him because he's been a fabulous coach for Belgium and not because there are ND players in Europe. I'm probably an exception... That said, I've been hoping the new coach has been on the phone with Emma Meesemman, the great Belgian big who played for him. If she could join Tina Charles, you'd have an imposing front court that could rebound and score.
We'll see.

BTW, this topic has been discussed in consistent bits and spurts on the WNBA off-season board, which is active throughout the off season and has been absolutely bonkers the last week.
