CT Sports Betting coming very soon

With sports gambling legal in Connecticut, I have probably gone to Vegas for the last time. It is basically a day of travel each way (certainly coming back), and it is gross and kind of depressing.

Good for the state. As someone who doesn't smoke weed and rarely bets on games why do people who smoke weed and bet on games want to do it through the state?

I wonder if this would include Bobby V’s in Stamford and Windsor Locks? Would be awesome if you can place bets at those locations.
I’m sure Bobby v’s would be easy they already have all the software for the horses. Makes sense.

the way the agreement was written, sounds like CT lottery will have online sports betting too, so it really doesn’t matter at all.

Between the state, two casinos, and your local neighborhood bookie, there will be plenty of line shopping to be had for all.

Bobby V.'s comes under the part where the CT Lottery would license sports betting to SportTech.

Pathetic! The only answers our lame politicians in this state have is weed and gambling. No morality at all!!!

Do you really need this if you can make bets on your smart phone?

Especially with $99. rooms at the Sun. Pre tax and fees of course. I just reserved one for a month after my 2nd shot.

I wonder if they will allow uconn or not. I think they aren't going to allow in state games or teams betting. That would be my guess.

Anyone who bets through the state programs aren't seasoned/real bettors. You are paying a higher vig to play and are getting taxed on winnings

Those 2 factors kill/cut into percentage and you will have to hit at above a 60% rate to be profitable vs about 54%

Um because then you are not breaking the law?

Um because then you are not supporting organized crime? Do you know how much violence is created out of black market drugs and betting?

People still have bookies???
Of course, that's why I asked who does this stuff through their state? Whenever I make a sports bet which is highly infrequent these days I do it through my guy's bookie. Everyone I know who is serious about sports betting does it through bookies. Same goes for weed, anyone I know who smokes a lot of weed gets it through their dealer.

Because our gov't criminalized it. It pales in comparison to the violence created by and done by our gov't.

Bookies aren't breaking legs anymore.

Betting is not illegal. Accepting bets and being a book is illegal

So Bridgeport and Hartford are in and New Haven, Sports Haven is out. Bummer

So what do they do, call you in for a money management counseling session and put a letter in your file?

Did you read that or are you extracting? The Lottery gets to put a new place in Hartford and B'port. But I see that clause talking about SportTech as covering Sports Haven and the Bobby V's. Maybe even Putnam and Torrington.

That's funny. My uncle and grandfather were both bookies and I grew up with them taking bets at the dinner table while I was doing my homework. Phone ringing off the hook, them scratching bets down in a notebook. Weird to think of some similar thing still happening today.
