OT: CT Fireworks

Right near the New York border.

I am shooting fireworks into Connecticut.

Actually, they are rockets. I am invading.

Bridgeport, literally anywhere. its already started. proally run till the fall, tho something about that 4th july time brings out those fancy shows with firemen, 5-0, lawn chairs and stuff. don't worry if you miss that date, cuz it doesn't stop for months. enjoy. and, duck.
guilford to saybrook is sweet too. more homemade ordinance, with lots of tater guns at BBQ's to keep u on your toes. ah, summertime--roman candle shootouts everywhere. gotta luv it.

I live within ear shot of the Manchester fireworks, and my German shepherd rescue has a ton of anxiety. This is easily her least favorite time of year. Can’t do much about it, but it breaks my heart
Trazodone.

I can relate. Our German Shepherd doesn't like thunder at all. If I'm on the computer and she hears thunder, then my legs under the computer table have to make room for the dog as well. Doesn't care for fireworks either, but tonight for some reason she has been ok.

Seriously our dog hates them too. Thunder coat actually works but we also have a trazadone prescription for when she is inconsolable

I bring my with me dog hunting and shooting all the time. Gunfire doesn't bother him at all. But as soon as it thunders or there are fireworks he is curled up next to me shaking. Who knows? Dogs hear all sorts of frequencies humans can't. So who knows what they are hearing?

The best / most interesting display I've seen was at a BBQ in Brooklyn. As dusk drew near, I heard / felt a major 'BOOM' exploding somewhere up above. As if by pre-cognitive signal, the garage doors flew open, and the crowd began dispursing boxes of fireworks packed floor-ro-ceiling, wall-to-wall, door to back wall, from the garage to the street in front of house.

They arranged the boxes in a line in the middle of the street, and lit them off. First lines of firecrackers, then roman candles, rockets, etc. For each category, another line of boxes in the street. The rockets provided a few thrills as some launched horizontally motivating spectators to dive behind cars / walls / anything handy. The smoke cloud and smell of burnt gunpowder was unbelievable. Police cars drving down the street just accelerated past so they weren't hit by incoming.

Then the motars came out: 3-4" diameter pipe 3-4 ft long welded to a flat plate that rested on the street. In went the shell, a 'thump', and several seconds later, a major firework appeared way up high (calculate height via Neutonian physics: s = .5g t squared (g = 32.3 ft/sec/sec, and t = seconds), or height =16 * t * t. example: 4 seconds = 256 ft up). This went on for an hour until the stash was all launched. These folks were not amateurs.

Alas, after Guiliani took control of City Hall, there were no more fireworks the next year, and ever since.

Mean to say ThunderShirt. Saw a commercial for it several years ago at like 3:00 a.m. when I couldn't sleep and ordered it the next day. Mrs. 8893 scoffed but she is a believer now. Definitely works for our dog and she seeks it out when a storm is approaching.

Just let it in your bed.

Our dog honestly couldn’t care less about fireworks but is jumpy with most other sounds. She’s going to sleep through anything tonight though because we ran her ragged on the beach today.
