UConn incoming freshman Crystal Dangerfield is one of five finalists for the McDonald's national high school player of the year.

Dangerfield is joined by Baylor commits Natalie Chou and Lauren Cox, Notre Dame signee Jackie Young and Texas commit Joyner Holmes.

Whether she comes out on top or not, She tops with me regardless!

We've been hearing nothing but good things about Crystal for the last two years. The fact that her play this year allows her to be considered as the national player of the year, tells me that the reports we've been getting were accurate.

They don't nominate marginal or average players for this award. Win lose or draw, UConn is getting a premier point guard next year. I'm sure we'll be gushing over her, and singing her praises as we are doing about Moriah now. Lucky us.

4 out of the same 5 as the Naismith finalists. Only difference is Natalie Chou instead of Erin Boley.

And with the two heralded bigs they got last year, their fans gotta be pretty optimistic for what's to come. Yikes!

Coach Geno has said many times that winning the national championship, going undefeated, and all of that, is not as easy as it looks. We UConn fans have been spoiled over the past decade. It wasn't always this good. We've had some spotty recruiting the past three years or so- just Saniya one year, two players this year, though good ones, and one great pg, but then two players who aren't on anyone's radar. We're way down in the front court, while other teams- ND, Baylor, Maryland, Texas- are way up. It's not going to be easy next year. So let's enjoy this amazing season now!!
