The game was at 3:30 today and should be archived on WatchESPN. Did anyone see it?

Thanks. I'm watching the first quarter now. She had a nice break with a no-look pass that got fumbled away. She also ran a nice inbound play in which she went to the corner and made a three-pointer. Then she got sloppy on a pass and turned the ball over.

A few preliminary observations after 10 minutes:

Crystal is the fastest player out there.

Holmes is athletic. McCoy made some plays. Ramirez and Slocum are fun to watch. Lauren Cox looks a little like Lauren Jackson, but can she play like LJ?

Sounds like she was able to get some looks at the basket but just couldn't knock them down. Geno will fix all that.

Saw where Erin Boley won MVP for the East squad. Looks like she might be the real deal.

Boley has nice versatility and decent size. She had 10 points as f early in the 2nd.

Crystal's shots looked like good ones, but the ball wasn't dropping for her. She has excellent PG skills for her age. And speeeeeeed!

Crystal is also the real deal. She is super fast and unselfish. Unfortunately, her defense will be needed the most, and an all-star game is not the best platform for evaluating that. Of all the players I saw, Crystal was the player most likely to make the others around her better (obviously being the point guard helps). She is the number 3 ranked player and she looks it. BTW, the other players where also very, very good. The talent pool for the women's game is definitely improving.

Crystal played OK but shot poorly and got stripped a few times, Her Team lost. Boley was the best player in the game IMO. Typical Allstar game runnin and gunning. Crystal has an advanced passing game and today she was without advanced finishers or receivers so a few of her passes that should have been assist end up being turnovers.

Agreed re Crystal. She should have had several more assists. Even if they weren't TOs, there was still no made basket. She did get careless with the ball at least twice.

Boley had 19 and 10 after 3 quarters. Nice! She also had some steals and deflections.

It's easy to see who has skills, but not so easy to see who has discipline and team-oriented play.

The lead announcer butchered Ionesco's name horribly.

Cox had 15 points, 15 boards, and 7 blocks. She had a lot of offensive putbacks.

Yo-noo-skew???

I only watched several minutes of the second half, but the clear standouts from what I saw were Boley, Holmes and Cox.

Dangerfield had her ups and downs, but all-star games — notoriously short on system offense and long on helter-skelter — are not good gauges of a point guard's ability to pass and run offense.

Holmes does look like the female version of LBJ--big, strong, and fast.

Here's the important stat for Crystal. Now that her Blackman career is over, she switched uniform number from 32 to ... drumroll ... 4.

Dangerfield wore No. 4 in the Jordan Brand Classic, the same number worn with such distinction by All-American Moriah Jefferson with the Huskies.....She doesn’t know which number she will wear at UConn but said it will not be No. 4 so she doesn’t aid in the comparisons between her and Jefferson.

smart of her... #32 may be available but I think UConn PGs usually have low numbers

Ah, now it can be told. With Polly and Bre leaving, with Lauren going to Baylor and the other one retiring, with Obama lame ducking: the word that dare not speak its name: EARS . . .

Here is the BOXSCORE and 2 articles on the game from the USA today: LINK and LINK. The stars played well for the most part. I thought Boley played the best, but Odum (Duke) was solid. Ciera Johnson (Louisville) played far better in the McDonald's game than she did yesterday, as did Jackie Young, who barely played at all, as the East team was loaded with wings. For the West, Cox played very well (7 blocks!), but she went over the back on rebounds a lot. That will get called next year at Baylor. Holmes played well and has tremendous athleticism, and I hope she gets the coaching she needs to develop into the player she can be. Ramirez is quick and a scorer (not just a chucker). She'll get to shoot a lot at TCU, but better teams will really focus their defense on her. She was impressive in both allstar games. Sabrina Ionescu, whose name was repeatedly butchered by the play-by-play announcer, came back to earth in this game after soaring in the McDonald's game.

Agree on all points. Ramirez not just a chucker but she is a cherry picker. She had three break away layups because she was not playing defense. Always hated that one guy who played like that, even when he was on my team.

Interesting. I wonder why she wore #4 yesterday. A 1-game tribute?

That's wise of her to play her own game. She is a lot like Mo, but certainly not identical. She looks a good 2" shorter. Crystal reminds me of Tameka Johnson from LSU.

I think Crystal Dangerfield will be an impact player early on.

Looking at the 2 games combined, Boley was probably the best performer. She is aggressive, sort of like the younger Mabrey and Ogunbowale. That will serve her well as a newbie. She took 21 shots yesterday, far more than anyone on her team. She will improve to the max of her ability if she knows what a good shot is and eschews the poor shot. She may already, but it's hard to say based on 2 games, all-star games no less.

Speaking of shots, I think Ramirez is fun to watch. I don't see TCU winning any championships, but Amber will get them lots of PR. I wouldn't be surprised if she averages 20 ppg as a frosh. She reminds me a lot of Shoni--lots of flash.

Both Ionescu and Young were surprisingly quiet yesterday. I was impressed with both in the McD's game.

I watched Kaila Charles, because she's a local product. She reminds me of Bria Smith from Louisville, but maybe a better shooter. She's a nice addition as the headliner to Maryland's #1 ranked class.

I thought Crystal played within the context of the game and didn't force anything. I'd like to see more intensity and defense than she showed in the all-star games, but she is a good decision-maker and very good with the ball in her hands. As Jim Fuller notes, she should have had 7 assists yesterday. She is a very polished PG for her age.

I played shooting guard on a team with a point guard like that. Even when we were all playing half-court defense, as soon as a shot went up he would release down the floor rather than box out his man, hoping for the easy touchdown pass and layup. Of course, this often came at the cost of giving up an offensive rebound to the guy he didn't box out. I wanted to kill him every time that happened.
