Does Creighton have any shot against mighty SC today. The easy answer is no way SC by 25..However they are very well coached and run a nice offense If they can take a page from Mizzo and pack in the paint and make Henderson and Cooke beat them and run their motion offense like they did against Iowa and use up a lot of the clock then somehow hit a high percentage of their 3's then they could pull it off...that's a lot of if's but as they say "that's why they play the game"

Does Creighton have a chance? Yes! And you gave the perfect example. Missouri was able to pack it in and force South Carolina into making perimeter shots. However, like in that Missouri game, South Carolina started making their shots and came back and Missouri stopped making their shots, minus that one shot that put them over the top. As long as Creighton makes their shots, especially from long range, they could pull off a huge upset. If they go the three points for two points approach, South Carolina does not stand a chance. But just a matter of which team gets hot shooting.

Of course, then again, did Creighton have “any shot“ of even getting to this game? You never know and that’s why we play the games rather than just having Dawn order a banner at the start of the season.

(That said the gamecocks are an incredibly good team and it is an extraordinarily tough matchup for Creighton unless they are lights out from deep.)

SC's guards are shooting like poop right now. Swarm them and Henderson will turn it over. I do think Creightons coach may have a heart attack. Did anyone catch him feverishly biting his nails in the last game?? I'm not sure he has the ability to outcoach Dawn, but I pulling for him!

You wouldn't think so, but if SC is looking past them AND Creighton plays their absolute best game of the season they will claim an historic victory that will go down as one of the great wins in the history of this tourney.

I know that Creighton likes that long shot clock, but I think they should shoot quicker to get more possessions and to counter what I'm assuming will be an SC offensive rebound edge. Boston will get hers...make the others beat you. Creighton has to outscore SC to win...and I think that's possible because SC has offensive lulls. Creighton has elite ball and player movement in their offense. It wears their opponents down. I got Creighton here by a slim margin....like 1 point.

That's funny

live by the three........... die by the three.........if Creighton is shooting well and can somehow limit the damage on the boards, they certainly have a shot
This. Exactly what I was going to say. They have to be 60% shooting and get as many possessions as they can, which means competing in rebounds. Very very tall task. No pun intended.

Foul trouble for Boston would help.
Hit treys...double Boston with different people/different angles.
Fingers crossed that the SC guards shoot poorly from deep.

A win would be the biggest upset in the Women's NCAA tourney in the 21st century...
topping the Louisville win over Griner and Baylor back in the day.

They have the Louisville vs. Griner Baylor chance...which is to say, very little chance at all. I think Louisville would have lost that game 18 or 19 times out of 20.

And like the Louisville/Baylor game, as others have mentioned, shooting 3s out of their mind while being well guarded is the only chance they have. In addition they will need to get at least some rebounds.

I don't think Creighton is as good as that Louisville team was, and this South Carolina seems to be at least as good if not better on defense than Baylor was. On the flip side, this South Carolina team doesn't seem as good at offense as that Baylor team.

When I saw the bracket, I thought Iowa and Iowa State we’re good draws for Creighton. Their style of play matched up well against both teams to give them a realistic 50/50 shot of winning. I think this matchup provides two very contrasting styles. Creighton really needs to shoot lights out and rebound the ball. If they give up a ton of second chance points, it’s going to take a lot of efficiency to counteract.

Well creighton does shoot a lot of threes. We know that shooting a lot threes results in long rebounds which will make it a lot harder for SC to rebound all of creighton’s misses. Honestly if creighton keeps up with SC on the scoring, it’s fine if they let Boston get her points and O boards, just limit the Sc guards and it’s not totally out of reach.

I doubt South Carolina has seen a team that shoots the 3 as much as Creighton. Against really good perimeter shooting teams, South Carolina seemed to struggle a bit defending the 3pt line. Missouri and Stanford both went 7-15 from 3 against them. If Creighton can find a way to muck the game up inside like Missouri did with smaller players AND hit the 3, there’s a chance.

I loved Geno's post-game salute to Creighton (he's apparently been in touch with all the BE coaches throughout the tourney) -- something like "it's a great day for Peacocks (St. Peter's) and Bluejays."

And about those Peacocks . . .

-- they've now beaten a #2 (Kentucky), a #7 (Murray State), and a #3 (Purdue), to become the first #15 ever to advance to the E8. That means their game today vs #8 North Carolina should be their "easiest" matchup of the tourney so far (except for the fact that UNC has extra incentive to get to the FF to face their historic rival, Duke); and

-- the day they beat Purdue was National Peacock Day. (No joke. I guess Congress was having a slow day when they passed that one.)

SC played SD early in the year.

Isn't it ironic that the team with the easiest path to the Final Four in the beginning, just got an even easier one by sheer luck. Of course South Carolina earned not just a number one seed, but the overall highest number one seed, but potentially getting to Minneapolis without having to face 2,3, or 4 in your region is fortunate indeed.

By contrast on the other side of the bracket it went more to schedule and the number 1 and 2 seeds are matched up in the finals for their regions. I will have to check out the betting odds but I suspect SC's chances are improving quite a bit.

Creighton's offense is not just about the threes. Its the 4/5 players out by the 3 pt line.
If the SC bigs go out there, Creighton has shown the ability to drive by and get layups too.
Very hard offense to defend, SC never sees that in the SEC.

I sent 10 puns to a friend with the hope that one would make them laugh - no pun in ten did
Perhaps you’re not very good at it?

Yes, the Louisville upset win over Baylor was one of the biggest upset in the tournament's long history, but what about #16 Harvard over #1 Stanford many years back? Sure, Stanford was missing one of their big players, but still....
