Few thoughts:
*Wow...UConn is really really really good on defense and offense. It must be one of the best defensive teams in UConn's history.
*Sarah Strong is the best player in the country. Anyone who thinks a different player is the NPOY needs to watch this game. and her basketball iq is as if she's got a basketball computer for a brain....
*KK was amazing. Probably her best game ever as a Husky. She was practically flowless on both defense and offence.
*Ahd than you have K9 coming off the bench...are you kidding me...what a game by her...
*Azzi: got her shooting touch back and showed off her defense as well as her amazing shooting.
*Loved the efforts of Jana in this game and she made her layups,
*Allie became such a reliable part of the rotation
*Shade hit shots recovering nicely from yesterday
*The only blemish was Serah fouling and Blanca missing layups...I'm sure they'll play much better tomorrow.
*A great win! the final is next

Blaming the refs for the 6 fouls that were fouls!? We obviously weren’t watching the same game
Nope, we weren't. One on Serah was because they missed an obvious call on Sarah and chose Serah to make up for it, because they were still thinking about her Georgetown incident.
As for Jana she was again getting hacked and whacked and without a call unless it was obvious.

At this stage, don't care too much of point differential, but the eye test today showed they are locked in. This is very good news, because Blanca is still not back at her level pre-shoulder reaggravation. If she can get her game back in the next few games, this is going to be a really really special team.

I thought KK and Heckel played amazing today. Obviously not surprised with Azzi and Sarah.

Very impressive overall game from UCONN. Sarah proved again that she is the National Player of the Year. Azzi showed again why she will be a Top 5 pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft. KK Arnold exhibited why she is the Top Point Guard in the Country, and Ashlynn, again put on another display of Excellence in 2 way production. All 4 had solid games. Off the bench we saw outstanding production from K9, Jana El Alfy and Allie. The only downside from today's game was that Bianca had one of her worst games at UCONN. And Serah's foul issues and overall non productive day, showed a few kinks in the UCONN armor. Thank goodness this team has players like K9, Allie, and notably Jana El Alfy to pick up the slack.
Blanca has had better games for sure. The missed layups don't bother me all that much. Like many a freshman she tends to try too hard and gets kind of wound up, resulting in dribbling into dead ends and putting way too much oomph on layups. She has lots of talent and athletism as we all know. Once things slow down - both her and the game in general - she'll be more than fine. Soon enough she'll be able to be the player she so wants to be. Fortunately she's on a team that gives her the luxury of making mistakes and learning how to play.

-When Sarah plays like she did in the first half, it is foolish to consider anybody else as NPOY.

-KK had a perfect first half and it was ALMOST overshadowed by Sarah’s play.

-K9 playing against second teamers in mop up time is unfair because she does not ever go any speed but full. What a game today.

-Geno’s trust in Allie is approaching the same level as Geno has in Ash.

-It was nice seeing Ash shake off yesterday’s doughnut.

-Two nitpicks that do not overshadow the clinic they put on. Serah foul trouble making her a non factor and Blanca’s inability to finish.

-I wonder how long Geno sticks with the goatee.
Yes. Blanca looked like a raw freshman today. Except on defense, where she was solid. Also, she is not comfortable as a ball handler. Something to work on. She picks up her trouble too fast, in most cases. Which forces a pass that can go astray.

Agreed. Heckel plays like a true blue Husky to me! Always passing up a good shot for a great shot.
To continue with the "love fest," for some reason during this game I was thinking about all the people last spring/summer claiming that Kayleigh was an unnecessary piece and were negative about adding her to this team.

It seem absurd in retrospect.

In the course of a couple of games I have gone from being slightly concerned that KK and Sarah seemed a bit too detached to now worrying they might be peaking too soon. Incredible performances by both of them today.

In today's game, several assists by K9 and Sarah were textbook examples of how that portion of the game is played.

Our starters played with great energy turning over their opponent and making layups at the other end. We are a force of players that enjoy playing defense with a nod to results. You don't often see that in today's game. It is also great to see the other coaches acknowledge the benefits of playing against the Huskies to improve their own future.

When Blanca learns how KK and K9 dribble with authority, she will be more than amazing. She is playing a tad too fast both dribbling and shooting layup. A summer of work will likely develop her into an All American.

I usually detest when the announcers ignore the play by play & turn the broadcast into a studio show with boring rhetoric & long winded stories.
But John Fanta & Kim Adams are a great duo. They are skilled in sharing their knowledge & passion while paying attention to the game.
It isn't easy to hold our attention in a 50 point blowout, but they manage to accomplish that feat.
I couldn't disagree more.
If they were hosting a sports talk show, I would enjoy them. But announcing a quick-paced basketball game? I'll pass, thank you..

I can’t resist musing on Kayleigh’s season and not just this game. She had a great game today, better than her stat line shows. And it’s a damn good line: 9 pts, 8 rebounds, 7 assists. OMG.

But as I’ve said elsewhere, I can’t help but smile at how happy Kayleigh seems, so well situated in Storrs, so comfortable with a culture that has welcomed her with enthusiasm. She didn’t leave USC because she was happy there. She met with Geno and heard something she liked, and then made a fateful decision. Teenagers don’t often get two chances to get a momentous decision right. Kayleigh did and she didn’t make a mistake the second time around.

When I see the way her teammates rally around her after every success, it really warms my heart. She’s like yet another example of why Geno’s and CD’s program is so great: because it works for kids like Kayleigh, like Ash, like KK, like Allie. And next year, it will work like that for Morgan and Gandy and Kelis and Jovana.

The superstars like Azzi or Sarah or Paige would find their way on many teams. The fit isn’t quite as essential for them as it is for the others. Next year, Azzi will have moved on, but Blanca will probably have stepped up into a starring role, and I expect Olivia will have too by the end of the season. But for now, the happy one is Kayleigh and I really like celebrating her.

Yes I agree that both of them were incredible today but I don’t think they’re peaking anytime soon. Remember last year each of them seemed to get better the further we got into the tournament and I am cautiously optimistic that the same thing will happen this year with another year of experience and each of them having shown marked improvement.

I was at the game and after the first 15 minutes the game was literally over due to this unbelievably talented and efficient duo of 2 way offensive and defensive excellence. Azzi and Ash were also very efficient on offense in the first half and played very good D. Creighton’s guards were having real issues controlling the ball from the outset and it was obvious that KK and SS had gotten into their heads and really thrown them off their game on both offense and defense, especially with the 2 of them turning them over and then literally scoring at will.

They definitely didn’t expect that kind of offensive outburst from KK in the first 15 minutes and it seemed to really deflate them imo. Keep in mind that KK only got 16 minutes of PT yet inflicted so much havoc and damage with such efficiency while again making no turnovers and not fouling that it almost seems she is under appreciated and under utilized. With 4 assists and no turnovers today she is now over 4.0 in assist/ turnover ratio and I believe second nationally only to a Quinnipiac player.

It seems to me we have a new Big 3 now heading into the NCAA tournament but with a different 3rd star than whom most envisioned. Was really a great performance all around and the team’s confidence appears to be sky high for tomorrow and the Big Dance to follow.

Seriously they are going to be fine. It is a long season but they will be ready for the business end. KK has been better than I had anticipated this season on a game-by-game basis and she does relish the big moments.
