McDermott didn’t take advantage of our small lineup very well. Hardly any sets to get Kalk down low on Alex, the one touch Kalk got near the hoop was an easy turn and finish.

Also obligatory “the refs were so biased/bad” take so nobody can say “yall only complain about the refs after losses.” They were so bad today, it honestly should warrant an investigation.

That isn’t really Kalks game. He has a weak base. You don’t really see him backing guys down

They truly consider themselves to be the Harvard of the Midwest
How the heck do they consider themselves the Harvard of the Midwest? It's a good school but not even close to that good. Acceptance rates aren't everything but Creighton's is 70%. Harvard's is like 3.5%. If they consider themselves the Harvard of the Midwest then I am scared what the rest of the Midwest is like. :)

We also did a really nice job sticking big guys on Ashworth when he had the ball which really put him out of sorts and blocked his ability to get easy entry passes to Kalk.

Liam did a stellar job; JStew, Ross, & Karaban alll chipped in during a few possessions each.

If you told me UConn played a game with Diarra sitting on the bench most of the game, Karaban was 0-7 from three, Ball was 5-15, 0-4 from three, both bigs sat out much of the game with foul trouble, and we had 4 points from the bench, I would say this was a lopsided blowout by Creighton. But, then there is that freshman McNeeley…….

Don't forget also we trailed by 14 points in the 1st half during all the team struggles you listed above. Thats what makes this special due to the seemingly improbable outcome of victory.

Last night I was beyond all smiles.

Creighton fan here who was at the game. McDermott was off last night and outcoached from the last few minutes of the first half on. We were gifted fouls and couldn’t take advantage. Tip the cap to McNeeley he’s a dawg and did what hardly anyone has done in that building. Karma to some of our obnoxious fans towards Hurley but it’s a fun back and forth. He deserved to walk out the way he did and has always said nice things about our guys. Hope Karaban gets it going he seems like a good kid. I placed a future on UConn I think if you can put it all together you have the pieces to get another one. GL hope we get all the big east teams deep in the tourney.

Well, the of the Midwest is a pretty significant qualifier. But I think they are the Harvard of Greater Omaha is a more accurate classification. That way you don’t need to consider Chicago, Northwestern, Notre Dame, not to mention Michigan and a few other Big 10 schools.

The really crazy part is not even one of the best college basketball teams of the last 40 years was able to win in that building but yet this team did in spite of all that working against them. This is why i absolutely love college basketball and why i laugh when people have already made up their mind that this team cant win it all. Ive seen too much in the last 35 years to know this sport is crazy and anything can happen.

Ashworth is 25 on May 1st.

and is closer to 5-11. Probably could not see over Liam To get the ball to Kalk. Ashworth must have a PHD by now. He is quick and shoots extremely well.

It was horribly managed because he didn't play a guy who has almost never been healthy enough to engage in basketball activity since the New Year and another guy that hasn't played in over a month?
Yes. Down 14. On the road. Half the team with 2 fouls in first half. No ability to stop Creighton. AK 0-100 at 3?
Given Singares limited time, he has been successful at pluggging the dam with some minutes and 5 added fouls. So why not put him in?

Nowell. Is he that bad not to get some minutes over Mahaney? I’m rooting for AM to figure things out. But he has become terrified to score and now looks for the pass or dish in every oppty. So why not Nowell?

And finally, if you were watching the first 15 minutes of that game, you weren’t thinking this was Hurleys greatest game. It was pure survival and desperation to keep within 20 of Creighton.

I don’t get the negativity towards Karaban. He always plays hard, plays almost the entire game, and plays smart. He knows where he is supposed to be on defense rotations and helps run the offense. He is just struggling with his shot. Despite not being able to make any shots from outside found a way to score 11 points.
AK hasn’t exactly lit it up offensively the past 3-4 games. That’s just factual.
But he’s a gamer and will always compete. He’ll figure things out.

If Ross did anything to help us in the win, I must have missed it. I hope I did miss something positive. I want the best for the kid, but man oh man does he look like a fish out of water.

Looked as his numbers across the last 3 big games. He has 36 total minutes, 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block, 1 turnover (net -15). Empty calories. Did help break pressure against Marquette. It doesn’t get much better if you look at the previous 4. He doesn’t seem to figure out meaningful ways to contribute. Half the time you don’t even know he’s out there unless it’s a gaff. A lack of light bulbs going off too deep into a season Hurley has tried.
