Hurley wasn’t putting any blame on the ref’s today and said that he didn’t have a good look at the 3pt shot by Diarra. He said he’s actually been satisfied with the officiating since Maui.
Talks a lot about the team’s lack of defense, rebounding and tenacity.

I didn’t see a soft team today. We lost because we missed layups and “fouled” a 3 pt shooter at the end of the half.

I didn't watch this until late so I had all night to think about it. Early in the season I would have thought this was a motivational speech but he quickly dismissed the similarity to '23 as just a January slump.
He seems to be more resigned that this years guys are not killers like we've had in the past.
Alex is a the leader of this team and as good as his relationship is with Alex, and as great a leader he is, Danny realizes he's not going to be a killer.

I am not convinced that our defense is not as terrible as a lot of yarders are saying. ( it was hard to hear Seth Davis say UConn is not a good defensive team ) We are not great but in the last few games we have only scored in the 60's, at the same time we've also held the opponents under their average. We did a good job on Ashworth and also with Kalk which most teams have not been able to do.
If we get back to scoring 15-20 more with Liam back and continue to patch up some defensive holes we can still finish much stronger.
Though, I don't think we'll hear much more of the 3peat chants.

What Seth Davis said was this “They aren’t a very good starting 5 defensively and they have an injured starter who isn’t a great defender but in turn this is forcing players to play more who are even worst defenders.”

Harsh by a man I can’t stand and he loves saying it, but he’s not far from the absolute truth. Rarely heard in Storrs.

Earlier in the season Hurley spoke about his this team didn't know how to finish an opponent early (step on their neck). We have had a couple of conference games where ww were in the process of blowing them out early, only to let them back in the game.

This I believe is part of the toughness that Hurley is speaking about. Letting the opponent get on a rin after we have, basically not having the killer instinct needed to win at the highest level.

We have a good amount of talent but there are holes. There are also a few kids who aren't defending well, but not through a lack of effort or athleticism, just but not really getting what their responsibilities are and staying with them.

If this clicks with them, we may be able to do some damage in March. If not, well, there is always next year.
