Crazy defensive stat for this year’s team

Thx for this - crazy numbers in 25-26. I wonder how this year stacks up with the 4 championship years with Breanna.

Fun stuff!
Decided to check the archives on opponent turnovers and came up with the following:
Uconn currently has 'forced' 774 turnovers good for #3 spot for the years where the Uconn Archives tab has full year box scores - they are missing anything from 1999-2000 season back, and the link is broken for 2005-06, 2009-10, 2010-11, and 2012-13 seasons, but based on the rest of the seasons, the current record is held by the 2015-16 team with 784 opponent turnovers.

1. 2015-16 - 784 (+56)
2. 2000-01 - 778 (+106)
3. 2025-26 - 774 (+212)
4. 2024-25 - 751 (-20)
5. 2001-02 - 747 (+70)
6. 2011-12 - 735 (+101)
7. 2007-08 - 711 (-37)
8. 2014-15 - 700 (-38)

They should move into unofficial* first place in the quarterfinal game this weekend.

* Some of those early teams for which no box scores are available play lots of full court press and trapping defenses, but they also tended to play shorter seasons so who knows.

you can get the missing post 1999 years from Basketball Reference. The other crazy stat is we have more steals than turnovers which has NEVER happened in all the years. I know Geno doesn't like comparing teams especially during the season but this is truly an amaziing defensive team, well connected and individual skilled. No one misses a beat.

During one of the switches in the first half at the SJU game, Blanca's person dribbled past Ash so Blanca yelled "Switch" and Ash yelled even louder "I KNOW!" which my wife found amusing like two people who have known each other for a long time....just sayin

OK - thx to DefenseBB hint I have the numbers back to the 1986-87 season - the following are the 16 teams with 700+ opponent turnovers during the Geno era ranked - current team sits in 7th place, 113 behind the 1997-98 team that also set the previous mark for steals. At the current rate they need 5 games to top that mark.
