Thing is, he had the right idea - just throw it up in the air, and there isn't enough time to foul and stop the clock. He just didn't throw it high enough or far enough so the clock didn't run out. In hindsight, holding on to it and taking the FTs might feel smarter, but Dook nearly lost a NC on a similar shot after missing a FT on purpose.

I don't think that was going through his head, at least on my first couple takes, it looks like he clearly sees his teammate (#7 or #1) calling for the ball, and he just makes an awful pass that takes too long to fall down.
