Crapping on Stewart

I was trying to think of a harder hitter who played at UCONN. Can't come up with one. Greg Lloyd has our most famous hard hit (knocking the helmet off ND rb), but I have not seen someone with as many as Stewart. Guy brings the pain when he gets a full head of steam.

And yes, that was his best game as a Husky.

The hit he made was huge. Game was still in question at that point they fed off emotion all night - and they loved that one.

That was an absolute monster hit. Clean too. I was worried it came late when I saw it live (I sit on the opposite side of the field so I couldn't see the sideline), but when I saw the replay, 100% clean. Stewart was excellent as was Junior Joseph and Vann showed some soft hands in getting that INT!

Another guy often maligned here - Obi - played very well too. His INT was gorgeous. I thought he took exception to last week's soft performance and really stepped up last night.

I along with others have been critical of Stewart and the LB crew all year. So, let me say they played excellently overall. They were in positions to make plays where it mattered. Hats off and keep up the great work gents.
This is nice but also sad that so many do not realize that the reason they are in the positions to make plays is because the coaching staff finally made it happen.

Graham Stewart has had a better year than I think most fans give him credit for. While Vann ( arguably our best linebacker) has lost some playing time to Walsh, Stewart continues to be on the field for almost every defensive snap. Fans have tried to replace him with some of our younger players but the coaches continue to send Graham out there believing he is our best option at one of the outside linebacker positions. Yes he has taking some made angles from time to time and missed some big tackles but overall I think he has had a very strong year. He is much improve over that player that was on the field 3 years ago.
