If true, what does this portend for the women's basketball program?

Oh pooh. I just forgot the question mark. My (semi) bad. I have emerged from time out humbled and re-dedicated to non-recidivism.

But as to the question, is it not somewhat important?

Perhaps his replacement will spend some productive time getting us in a (decent) conference.

To imply that Warde has not worked to get UCONN into a new conference is unfair. UCONN has been passed over time and again by both the ACC and the B1G for several reasons - 1) teams in the ACC have a vendetta against UCONN and were successful in campaigning against us and 2) our football program and football support is so low that we were passed over for programs like WVU, L'ville, and Rutgers, and the word on the street is that Cinci, BYU, and maybe a few others might still be ahead of UCONN should the P5 decide to expand again.

I want out of the conference ASAP but it's likely that we are stuck in the American for at least the next few years, and maybe permanently.

Not for the WBB team. They will be fine as long as Geno is there. The new AD just has to not screw things up, which Warde almost did apparently.

??? Sorry, I don't follow, but would like to know.....what did or did not WM do to UCWBB?? Honest question.

TELL us then, what HAS he done for Uconn?

With regards to getting us into a new conference? Instead of being a smart ass, why don't you TELL us what he HASN'T done that you think he should have?

Mmm, disagree a bit Eric. We were never passed over WVU. At the time a northeastern program going to the Big 12 made no sense. As to RU, it's AAU status and population density made it the right choice for the B1G, although I suspect they have a little buyers remorse from time to time. Our football program's status really did not matter for either of those decisions.

Good points. I'm sure it was more than just our below average football program and moderate fan support compared to other big schools. But the fact remains that even if they were to expand again, there's no real sense that UCONN is at the top of the list of choices.... Programs like Cinci and BYU are often mentioned ahead of UCONN. You also sometimes hear Memphis and even Houston thrown around. It's sort of mind boggling that any of those schools could be considered ahead of UCONN for a P5 conference realignment.

Taking Cinci and BYU would be a disaster for UCONN - raiding the American and the Independent conference BYU is in gives UCONN nowhere to go and makes the American weaker yet again. I'd rather see them raid the ACC...

First - as long as Geno is the coach the women's program will be just fine.

Second - Warde is a candidate. Good for him and bad for us. Warde has done a very good job as AD cleaning up the Hathaway mess.

Third - some of you haven't been following the Big12 saga. UCONN is a serious candidate if the Big12 expands. Memphis is a non starter for them. BYU has a Sunday ban on play athletics due to their religious beliefs. That's a no go for th Big12. Houston does nothing for them. For the Big12 to survive they need to expand their footprint. All rumors prior to last weeks vote was UCONN and CIncy to the Big12.

Oklahoma and a few others want to expand and have a Big12 network. UCONN gives the Big12 a share of the NY market and that could be key to a new network. However the key to the Big12 has always been Texas and of course the LHN - a money loser for ESPN.

I don't know any details. But there were some cryptic comments back when Geno's last contract was being negotiated. It sounded to me like Manual was messing around with Geno to the point that hints needed to be dropped that he could leave for another job (Ohio State) unless Warde stopped around. I know there are others on the board that are more in the know on this and may be able to elaborate if so inclined.

Uhhh, is this an idiot test? We are still in the AAC. My original post said "his replacement will spend some productive time". Exactly how productive has he been at arguably the most pressing issue facing UConn athletics?

1. He "hasn't done" anything
2. Please, no bad language on this site
3. Are you planning to follow him and be a Michigan fan?

Freakin' knee jerk stuff on WM. Let's see what he's not done.

We don't have a state of the art hoops practice facility. Check
We aren't upgrading hockey and its facilities. Check
He didn't fire tte old FB coach and hire a new one who's improved us. Check
He didn't throw his support behind the men's hoops coach forced on him. Check

We know that he is in the perfect position yet has done nothing to get us into a better conference even though he controls the P5 conferences. Check, because you say so because you stalk him.

I agree on this one. He didn't fire that disaster of a football coach until one year too late.

He apparently failed to take your calls. Good riddance to the idiot.

Posters fail to mention this, but Men's basketball is very competitive in the AAC. As to the UConn women, there is no conference where they wouldn't dominate.

For real? Cohezone listed 4 things off the top of his head that are very high profile and great for the university. Please think before you post - will save you much embarrassment and humiliation...

Just to add - the men's program has not won the regular season nor the post season in the American. Currently they are barely hanging on to 3rd place - every game is a battle. Seems pretty competitive to me.

As a football conference, the American bombed in bowl games, but ended the season with 3 ranked teams - Houston, Navy, and Temple. Houston ended the season at #8, Navy ended up at 18, and Temple fell out of the top 25 after losing their bowl game. Memphis was "also receiving votes" in the final poll as well. Still, UCONN placed 7th in the conference. Can't imagine we'd be much better than last in any of the P5 conferences, but our improvement from last year was dramatic. Diaco has the team going in the right direction...

Right, and he'll NEVER leave. He told Jeff Jacobs in December: "I can tell you I am very happy here...If I'm here next December 30th, I'm going to be a happy person, as happy as I am now."

I'm guessing you're 12 years old.
