Two thumbs down for todays Hartford Courant sports section. Not blaming John as it may not have been his call. To have a section leading story on the four graduating seniors and listing their names, but leaving Pulido out of the accompanying photo is poor journalism.
She did not get the PT, rebounds, assists or score anything like Stewie, Mo and Tuck in the photo. She did work hard enough to walk on and earn a scholarship at what could arguably be called the toughest place in the world to do so. The photo is titled UCONN SENIORS, Pulido should have been in it.

Breaks my heart. Shame on the Courant.

Exactly Woof. I thought the same thing as soon as I saw that picture. Terrible, terrible omission. I'm not sure if John gets involved in that either, but someone has to know that? Frankly, I find the coverage by the Courant lacking in the depth that they go in covering the team. I consider the Courant to be the team's hometown paper and as such I'd expect every edition to be chock full of stories and analysis. Even John Altivilla's blog has nothing posted. I suspect that many games have two to three Courant writers attending (John, Paul and Jeff). I find Jim Fuller to be excellent in his coverage and coming up with some pretty interesting analysis and stats. His blog has video of the pressers many times and player interviews. The Courant should shake up who's covering the games and get some reporters more interested in the best team in WCBB.

And the cynic in me said "and this surprises you because?"

But yet, The Day of New London did have all four seniors on the front page of the Sports Section. And a photo of CD with family for her Huskies Wall of Honor.

You get what you don't pay for.... :-(

Sorry, but I am a paying subscriber to the digital edition of the Courant, so in this instance I got shortchanged. Just a little. But I got a chuckle reading about the "tact" that Geno is taking to motivate Lou.;)

Yes, Geno is a master at using tact to motivate player. Also understatement.

I agree. The Courant's sports page is getting worse, and they just raised the price of the paper. I just dropped my subscription a few days ago.

I wanna drop them but I cant find the "Jumble" online, I like the coupons in the Sunday's paper, we normally cut out the obits of people we know and my elderdy family members aren't hip to the internet

Relax guys. I'm sure it wasn't personal. Stewie-Tuck-Mo get their picture taken together a lot because they came in together as part of the same recruiting class.

They jacked our price up, too. But I found out if you don't receive the paper for 30 days, then re-order it, you are a "new subscriber" and can get the good deal again. I normally wouldn't bother to do something like that, but my Mom is old school and wants the "print" paper, and the amount of the markup was absolutely ridiculous.

The Courant did have a full article by John A specifically devoted to Briana Pulido one day last week. I'm too lazy to find the link, but it shouldn't be hard to find. It went into a lot of detail about her high school experience and her future career plans.

What's done is done. The silver lining: Not too many people in Florida read The Courant. :D :p

I generally try to avoid reading anything written under JJ;s byline. I believe he defines the word 'hack'.

If "JJ" is a reference to Jeff Jacobs, he seems to be a kindred spirit with Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe. You may determine if that's a compliment to either. ;)

Kib, I agree with your Jacobs/Shaughnessy being kindred spirits and in my opinion that is definitely not a compliment! Never liked Jacobs from the day he called Nykesha Sales "Soupy Sales" for her participation in "the basket" that made her the top scorer in UConn history (at the time)........

Most impressive to me is that Pulido will be going to medical school and studying to be a neurosurgeon. My life has once been saved (or at least extended) by a neurosurgeon, so I love her for that.

But there was a sizable UConn contingent both last year and this year in attendance at the Sun Dome for the wins over USF. Had they been playing UCF in Orlando this year I was prepared to go even though a four hour drive. A lot of UCOnn faithful, maybe less for the Courant
