Nicknamed the "Iceman," Wim Hof is a Dutch adventurer and daredevil who ran an Arctic marathon at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 29 degrees Celsius) – while shirtless. He also holds the world record for being immersed in ice for an hour and 44 minutes.

In 2007, he was able to survive for 72 minutes outdoors at the North Pole while wearing nothing but shorts. Hof says that he is able to control his body temperature by using the Tantric practice of Tummo, which is practiced by Yogi monks in Tibet, and involves the practice of focusing on the body’s energies turning them into heat.

Lifting a Car
A standard example of superhuman strength, the "lifting a car to free someone" story seems rooted in myth. In fact, comic book artist Jack Kirby once said in an interview that he got the idea for the Incredible Hulk after seeing a mother lift a car off her child, although the legitimacy of his story has been disputed. But there have been reported cases of this phenomenon.

In 2008, Chris Hickman, a Florida firefighter, came to the scene of a car crash in which an older model Chevrolet Blazer had flipped and landed on its side, pinning the driver's arm between the vehicle and the pavement. Hickman then lifted the SUV about 12 inches (30 cm) off the ground, giving the other firefighters the opportunity to rescue trapped driver, officials said in news reports of the incident.

Guinness World Records holder, Sakinat Khanapiyeva, is the strongest grandma in the world. The 76-year-old from Dagestan, Russia, can lift a 52-pound (24-kg) dumb-bell, break horseshoes and twist 2-inch (5-cm) steel rods. She first discovered her strength when she was 10 years old, after she was able to move a 661-pound (299-kg) container of grain, which is equivalent to the weight of four grown men, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
50 Marathons in 50 Days
Calling it the 50/50/50, Los Angeles native Dean Karnazes ran 50 marathons in 50 U.S. states in 50 consecutive days, beginning with the Lewis and Clark Marathon in St. Louis on Sept. 17, 2006, and finishing with the New York City Marathon on Nov. 5.
Karnazes also ran 135 miles (217 km) nonstop across Death Valley in the Mojave Desert in temperatures reaching 120 degrees F (48 degrees C), and a marathon to the South Pole at minus 40 degrees F (minus 40 degrees C).​

"It hurts so much and your body is saying stop, and you kind of override those mechanisms and force yourself to go on," Karnazes told news sources.​

If we miss Shireffs beyond halftime of game 2, the season is over. I loved his energy and grit, but some of you saw things with him I just didn't see.

Would still be a 100% improvement over last year as we missed him at halftime of Game 1 last year.

I'm surprised so many here think the linebackers won't be as good. I think we will see a huge uptick at LB with the increased speed. Beavers, Jones and Thomas are going to be really good. TJ Gardner is also very talented as is Hunter Webb. I think Kevon Jones will be a faster version of Smallwood.

The biggest question marks on the team are CB and QB. If players step up at those positions (obviously a big if) we will win our fair share of games.

Expect a slow start (two ranked teams to start the year) and hope for a fantastic finish. The back end of the schedule is winnable. Edsall's teams have been known to improve as the season progresses.

The biggest difference in this year’s team over last year’s (straight from several players) is team unity and accountability. Last year, players on the D and the O were on different planets. “No one cared about the other side of the ball. We never spoke.” Lethargy crept in, as was mentioned by an earlier poster about several of our DB’s. And it showed. We never seemed ready or able to exert the kind of effort required to win.
Now, other than a lingering question about Pindell’s leadership style and a still uncertain set rotation at LB, every unit is better than last year. This team is better trained, better prepared and better motivated. They will surprise any team that takes the field expecting to see last year’s effort and execution. That just might be UCF next Thursday. Watch this space.

On offense we have some depth at all positions. I like hearing we are trying to get the O-line leaner and quicker. Great receiving group. Ball security is going to be so important for any chance at a good season. This point has to be driven home. An extra yard is not worth a turnover. At the Spring game it was alarming how little D-line size we had. Atkins was out at that time as well. To have 3 true freshman possibly on the 2 deep is not surprising. Hearing we are trying 4 man lines is a relief. We can't have 3 down lineman and 5 lbs playing off the LOS and expect to ever stop the run or pressure the QB. The NFL defenses are in 52 defenses quite often with 6 men up at times. It would be hard to have worse cornerback play than we had last year. The concern about inside LB is the biggest issue on D. Can we get stops defending the run from that position?

I don't think the O-line lost much. Rutherford was versatile and Vechery was consistently average, which is not good enough when the rest of the line is subpar/inexperienced. Hopkins was the most talented of the three, but couldn't stay on the field for one reason or another. Skill means little if it's not being put to use.

For as much talent that left the team on the defensive side, I can't say I'm sorry to see any of them go. Maybe it was the scheme. Maybe it was the 4th coach in 5 years, but there was not a lot of passion on Defense. Now that everyone who is left has a year under their belt and Crocker seems to be open to either a hybrid linemen/backer or backer/safety (Husky backer), instinct will take over more this year.

Crocker better be open to something different if he wants to keep his job.
