Could double bigs help UConn defense?

Man. Internet loves 1980s basketball. The double bigs kills offensive spacing, and who does the PF guard? It might work in limited situations, but why would you make Samson Johnson chase after a perimeter player? You eliminate a shooter, passer and scorer for what again?
Both guys can set screens on perimeter. The opting team can’t just camp the other two guys buy the basket as they need to cover for the guy getting picked off by screen.

That said I agree it would be weaker on offense.

I could be misremembering but I think we went double bigs for a stretch against Baylor with good results.

I believe it would need to be held to very specific matchups and done in very small doses but it could be helpful if applied correctly.

I think the time to try it would be when Karaban needs a breather. Instead of Diarra, Ball, Stewart, Ross, Reed have Diarra, Ball, Stewart, Samson, Reed

I think Samson offers more on offense and defense over Ross in those lineups.

I know it’s probably too late in the season to get him minutes, but I’d love to see Singare get some run. He held his own each time he’s been inserted this year. Especially vs. Gonzaga.

Can’t do double bigs with an unseasoned center as the only big on your bench.
Have Singare be that 2nd big so SJ and RJ don't foul out before the game is over. Nah...

How about SJ and RJ together in small spurts either near the end of the first half if neither are in foul trouble or near the latter part of the second half if the same holds true. The problem is either one or both seem to get into foul trouble sharing the minutes. Can anyone really see both on the floor for any significant minutes without getting into serious foul trouble and getting the other team into the 1:1 followed by double bonus leading to tons of FT points?

Of all the things to suggest, I would think the team needs to focus on playing better team and individual defense and improve their rebounding with the lineups they're using before going to the two big option. I'm still surprised that at this stage of the season they're still one of the worst defensive UConn teams I've seen in a long time.

Singare used as the second big I read? Use double bigs in any way? This is pure entertainment!

One of the problems we have with our rebounding is that in the past we have had guards that were very good rebounders. We do not have that this year.
