Agreed--which is what I hope I conveyed in my post.
As to Giffey--much better after Calhoun returned. We hadn't seen that Giffey pretty much the whole season (despite more calls for him to play). From Pitt on, Giffey provided almost exactly what I wanted from the bench. Solid D, good decision making, nice touch from the foul line, and good shooting. If he came in when we were tied or had a lead, we would hold it. If we were down, say, 22, we would shave a couple points off.
Next year, if AD, AO and Lamb leave, could be very bad. If the NCAA maintains the ban, it won't matter though.
The good thing is that Giffey/Olander/Napier/Boatright/Roscoe should all be at UConn for two more years. Throw in Daniels and Calhoun and that's a good start, assuming they all grow as players, for the 2013-2014 season. Who knows what Wolf or Bradley could add, if anything. They should at worse be 10 fouls, and with 13 scholarships being available again there will be a few openings for guys to come in up front.
