It is just as dumb when they said ( pre-game) that" UConn has defeated Louisville 17 straight times." The past has no impact on the present. The teams, in both cases, were different. The results showed that the historical guidance the announcers provided, was useless as an indicator. Why can't they think of something original or provocative to share with us? The fact is, even Lou and Pheesa are humble enough to know that those records of theirs, while enormously impressive, really only matter once they have moved on. When they are explaining to their kids or grandchildren what they did in college basketball, those records will be jaw dropping. So our lack of "pop" for these milestones is not out of disrespect. They have the same reaction. The truth is; competing for and winning national championships is the statistic the players want, the coaches want and we want. Playing well is great and putting up numbers is great. But the number that counts has the words " national champions" on it. [/QUOTE]
