Few thoughts on the SEC awards:

-Very happy Liv McGill made 1st team. She is an All-American caliber player who won’t be in that discussion because Florida is a bad team (albeit not as bad as their record).
-Disappointed Raven Johnson only made 2nd team again despite significantly improved numbers from a year ago when she also made 2nd team. I would have put her on over either Flau’jae or Williams given SC ran away with the conference. Conversely, I’m excited she won DPOY. That’s been an unheralded aspect of her game.
-Aaliyah Chavez made an All-SEC team but didn’t win FOY. Aubrey Galvan has been incredible as Vandy’s PG and would’ve been my pick, but that kind of inconsistency in voting has to be frustrating for Chavez and Oklahoma fans.
-Overall, the SEC is just an incredibly stacked conference. I do believe UConn and UCLA are a notch above the pack, but there are 6 true title contenders and 4 are in the conference.

Huh? Liv McGill is absolutely a very good player and very much worthy of her 1st team ALL SEC selection but the AA comment is a bridge too far. Sorry, she is at best and Honorable mention but even that I find a bit of a reach.
By using your logic I guess Shay Ciezki is also worthy of AA nomination?

Oklahoma under-achieved vs. the full team they had returning and adding Chavez, plus her monetary demands and really only delivering in 1 game in OT puts me at odds with your take. Galvin absolutely deserved that award and elevated everyone on that team. I am not sure Chavez made anyone on Oklahoma better...

I would say there are 3 true contenders and 3 quasi contenders. Experience in the NCAAT matters so UConn, UCLA and SC are a cut above Texas and LSU. Vandy is in new, uncharted territory but Blakes, Galvin and Shea are capable.

I think what Gochips meant was Chavez made an SEC all-team but didn't win FOY but Galvin won FOY but didn't make an SEC all team. It doesn't make sense.

But we have to Google it to find out who won...hmm.
Sorry. Merrimack's HC won the award. Nothing for their coach or team to be ashamed of, they finished 3rd in the MAAC at 18-11(15-5) and were picked 8th. But, they also finished with a #232 NET (a 33 rank improvement from last year's #265) and a best victory of #276(!) NET.

Compare that to #51 Fairfield, who scored a couple of Q1 road victories, or even #79 Quinnipiac (who put together another top season 24-5(19-1), despite losing last year's PoY to transfer) and it seems like the other coaches in the league were living in a different world.

A fair comparison would be something like if St. John's coach wins for the Big East.
