Good read. It seems many European groups have latched onto it for a variety of different reasons.

I had no idea that 10,000 Southerners emigrated to Brazil after the Civil War and that the legacy lives on waaaay down south.

Not only Brazil, Confederate veterans and sympathizers also migrated to other nations south of the Rio Grande. Similarly, Nazis also escaped to Brazil, Argentina, other Latin American nations, and other countries globally. Fans of Napoli and other clubs who fly the Confederate flag have their own issues.

The use of the Imperial rising sun flag by westerners (maybe it was just an 80s thing) was also weird. I imagine Chinese and Korean people were not pleased.
