What they need is a dominant kick @ SS basketball program to shore up the ACC’s past reputation as the premier basketball conference and an OK but improving football program to shore up the rear.

The only non-ACC school that meets that criteria that the ACC would take is Kansas, and they're not leaving the Big12.

Designed to prevent it yes. But won't prevent it for long. FSU and Clemson will inevitably get their way and go to some other conference like the Big 12 because the SEC probably won't take them. If schools like UNC supposedly is a target for the Big 10 if ACC starts to collapse. If I had to guess if FSU and Clemson finds a way out, UNC, Miami, Louisville are all gone as well as the sweetheart deal with ND. So basically it just becomes the original big east plus ACC scraps.

all respect to the SEC but the top 4 have loses to, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky those aren't exactly great compared to Penn State you don't lose 2 games or in the case of Tennessee, have a really bad loss on your schedule and expect to be ranked higher than a team who lost in a fairly competitive matchup to the 2nd ranked team in the country.

I could make the argument the SEC should get 8 slots. Have you watched any of the 3 u spiked out? 2 would beat PSU and my might if they caught them on the right day. Oregon/Washington took .50 on the dollar to move and the Calford/SMU moves were almost free. There doesn't seem to be much appetite from ESPN/FOX to throw more money around.

On top of that, it appears that the GOR the ACC has in place is bulletproof. Clemson has basically shut its mouth and backed away while watching FSU continue to embarrass itself on the field, in the real courts and in the court of public opinion. I’m not sure the ACC is going anywhere.

The b12 would absolutely take FSU and Clem. But not sure that’s even a lateral move for Noles and Tigers.

Uconn to the Big 12, makes it the premier basketball conf by a wide margin, with Baylor and Kansas winning the two years before Hurley’s first NC. As for football, with 5 or 6 Big 12 members in the football top 25 with top programs, the Big 12 will be just fine.

Don't you understand, Alabama is the best team in the country because they lost to Vanderbilt who beat Alabama. It's a quality loss

This is exactly it. The P4 conferences have gotten so large that there's no room for anyone else unless they start removing schools first. There's nothing exciting about FSU that the SEC is taking. So the Big 12 goes even larger with more mouths to feed?? You can only split the pie so many ways and with the margin widening between the P2 and the Big 12, I can't imagine many schools wanna split anymore revenue. I also don't see a school like FSU taking a discount rate to make what is basically a lateral move to the Big 12.

I think the SEC is finally finding out that other schools outside of the conference have more money and are doing so. Being the SEC doesn't matter anymore. Who pays the most does. If UConn got a billion dollar sugar daddy, you better believe they're throwing money at a lot of top rated recruits.
