Colorado State is expected to make UConn coach Jim Mora the school’s next head coach.

If we got into the Big XII he'd still be here. I think some things didn't go how he was expecting them to, he doesn't think it's going to happen any time soon, and decided he wants to be somewhere else for his last gig.

I don't care about him leaving now though. It's better for us in the long run
Eh. He didn’t go the a P4, so I’m not sure that holds water.

We need a coach who people respect now as that will accelerate the transition into a P4. Like a Belichick or an NFL coach like Steve Spagnuolo. But we are the Charlie Brown of football programs, and just when things look hopeful, the ball is pulled away
Belicheck is a freaking joke nowadays. I want not part of that poop show.

Understand why people are upset here as things have been trending up and now who knows? Lets see how it plays out. As far as sour grapes towards Mora it seems uncalled for when emotions are put aside. The man gave his all to his employer and this program while he was here and earned every penny. The hire was mutually beneficial... we both benefited. He owes us nothing. Unless something like Big12 happened its hard for anyone to think New England was his last stop, especially when he was in campus housing dorm style with former players and coaching prospects (wasn't the campus mansion part of his contract?). If we are going to continue trending up I think Benedict has much more than the right coach to work on.. for example the complete lack of interest from our own state press etc
Attendance was up, interest was up, last year we brought way more people to the Fenway bowl than anyone expected and more than hometown BC brought the year before.

Program is in peril. Need to think big. Belichick loves Connecticut and deserves another chance

No Belichick or any of those rethreads looking for a payout.

We need a young coach who actually wants to win next year and beyond. I am find if the guy is gone after 4 years assuming he was hired away. Until we get into a conference, we will have to manage the current situation and keep getting the team to bowl games.

Are you subscribed to Storrs Central? There's some news that I can't reveal.
I clearly don’t know how to navigate that site properly bc I am a subscriber and I never see any of this “top secret” info people talk about. I am always terribly underwhelmed by what I read on there.

Have to be concerned of the Les Miles or Charlie Weis types that have had high success only to fail at lower level teams.

I agree that the move is largely a lateral one in terms of prestige , but the lack of an on-campus stadium here is a big negative compared to CSU. I understand Miami and UCLA do the same, but they have a rich history that we lack. The biggest issue is not the next coach, it’s securing a on campus stadium while Lamont is still the governor.
Agree that is the Governor to support UConn. I feel the general population of CT would be against supporting UConn and football and view it as politicians wasting money. I believe investment elevates UConn and the state and there is a return on investment.

Meant coaches similar to them in present day. Both of those coaches are history.
Mora probably fit the mold prior to coming here though. Have to hire a competent program runner and get him a good GM/portal guy.

i think JMick's point was a P4 UConn (or at least a clear path to P4 for UConn) would have been worth more to JM than a G6 CSU... it would have been worth staying out east, away from his beloved mountains.

An indy UConn (with no sign of change) is NOT.

The problem has always been traffic. It’s bad enough with a 10k Gampel Pavillion but 50k Stadium traffic would be horrendous. They would have to make 195 and 44 4 lane roads which would ruin the abeyance of bucolic Storrs and surrounding towns.

Agree with your last statement. The statement before just shows how bad Conn the thinking is and is why UConn isn't in a major conference. What does it say that most state universities are in big conferences. New England? Zero. Explains a lot about the region.

I wish people would stop, not getting a on campus stadium

New England is also home to much of the Ivy League, and the many NCs in fb they had. Also home to many more private schools than most states and regions.

People act like this is the end all be all, when in fact, really no one cares except maybe the students. And they’re not even showing up consistently. Let’s focus on the people who are actually spending money to buy tickets. And they don’t care.

And? The NCs in football occurred in the 20s, 30s & 40's. Who cares.
