College coaches on the most underdeveloped skills in high school players today

My guess is 1) passing, and 2) lateral movement, and 3) switching on defense.

I would have guessed boxing out for rebounds. Apparently even some college coaches have given up on that one since no one mentioned it.
Boxing out is mentioned at the end. I would have guessed 1) Mid range game 2) Defense on switches 3) Moving with purpose without the ball such as back doors.

Now you know why Geno likes to recruit coaches’ kids
Good point. And daughters of former players who both coach and train them. For example, when you watch Azzi use her left hand, there is only one obvious comparison and that is Kyrie Irving. He uses both interchangeably like she does. That little 3 year old with her right arm immobilized was being developed into the player she is by very shrewd parents who played and knew the game.

Like her father said, we only started to see the real Azzi in the Final Four. I look at this recent workout video and see her dribbling and I think "She is even better already".

I have not watched the video yet and I am a high school girls coach, so I am going with:

1). Hustle
2). Coachability
3). Decision making
4). Footwork
5). BBall IQ

Now, let's see how well or badly I did. So that I can help my players better. :)

Welp. I was not even close. I can see passing being an underdeveloped layer of a high school players game, especially with the post entry passes. Moving without the ball. Definitely! Boxing out? Yep. We definitely need to work on post play on both ends of the floor.
