What are you insinuating?

Just that some people read about our latest targets and immediately fall in love. Until they’re not on him anymore, then suddenly the commentary will change.

It seems every offseason, these “wish lists” eerily line up closely with who we’re most linked to at that moment.

@auror you don’t fall in with that group, btw.

I think some of it is that these are the players I'm seeing, and generally I am agreeing that they look like good players we should be recruiting. Some of it too is that I trust the staff to target high talent players that they feel will be a good fit with the roster.

Understood. It wasn’t that serious. Just funny that once we offer a guy I see multiple posts like “THIS IS THE GUY I WANT” … well yeah cuz you just saw a highlight of him and saw that UConn just showed serious recent interest.

To be fair, nobody wants to be the guy that’s like “I don’t see it with this one.”

Def get that. But there’s some guys that “suddenly” say “this is my wish list” and it’s the top 3 guys they’re recruiting. It doesn’t take a ton of critical evaluation.

We haven't had a public official visit set yet, so listing UConn (Sept. TBD) is kind of interesting. I wonder why it's TBD.
Makes me think we want to be first, or as early as possible to lock him in before the world tour.

Kid can shoot the leather off the ball, but man are his feet slow. Think his future is an off ball 4.

And Larry Bird would be a 4 if he played today
Larry would be whatever the hell he wants to be today. He would be Luka, Lebron, Jokic. There's a slower, taller, heavier dude that's been doing it "his way" as the best player in basketball for 5 years now. He's been called a center since he's been in the league, he's been Denver's point guard for the last 5 years.

Power forward isn't even really a position in today's game if we're being honest. Malone, Oak, Buck...they don't exist anymore. If they did Sanogo would be picking up double doubles and making 10's of millions. Larry would choose his position and the team would revolve around him.

4-Star SF Cole Cloer started off the game hot, knocking down three threes in the first few minutes. Dan Hurley (UConn), Todd Golden (Florida), Will Wade (NC State), and Nate Oats (Alabama) were among the head coaches watching him on Saturday. Things cooled down for the 6-foot-7 wing as things progressed as he finished the game 5-13 from the field. He is at his best when his game is consolidated and he is getting to his shots within one dribble. He had 16 points in CP3’s quarterfinals Peach Jam loss.

Even at UConn the 1-4 are really meaningless on offense. The labels really only apply to who you can defend.

This is a silly argument, but I’m bored.

He’d still be listed as a 4. Power forwards now have guard skills, but they guard other 6’8-10 forwards just like they did back then. Nobody seriously lists Jokic as a point guard, cause he guards centers and is always the tallest guy on his teams side.

Does it functionally matter what position you’re listed as? No. Jokic is the playmaking hub of Denver, Bird would be the playmaking centerpiece of his team, but that doesn’t change what “position” people would associate them with.

I wouldn't say that's completely true. While Karaban (and other fours) is definitely perimeter oriented at UConn the four hasn't been a ball handling position under Hurley. I'm sure they could accommodate that if the skill set was there, but it hasn't been.

Exactly. They still have to guard someone on the defensive end.
