2026 Recruiting: Colben Landrew

Dream 2026 lineup:

Demary / Transfer (soph or junior)
Mingo / Furphy
Ball / Landrew
Stew / Cloer
Reibe / Transfer (soph)
Probably have to include Ross in there somewhere, but that is definitely the idea. That Fab 5 class will have their chance at big minutes next year. This year really does have to play out to know what we have for next year - this is that annual fan exercise where everyone build ups ideal expectations and then the world when they don't play out. My guess, not every one of these kids is going to live up to the loft.

Fab 5 class?

There is also a sense around town that the YOUNGER Ross may play a real role in future years - as he is better than initially expected. May come to nothing given the current climate of CBB/what new guys we land, but worth noting

You keep saying you don't claim to have insider information and then post like this. You're either lying about that or making things up here, because no one has publicly said a thing about Ross #2 that indicates this.

I’d like to take Landrew and if that pushes Ross out of the rotation then it is what it is. I pledged never to complain about recruiting over returning players after last season.

I think Ross is going to be a pleasant surprise here this year.

The press is on.

We'll see - if the light bulb is going to go on, it should happen this year. Athletic kid, there is an awkwardness to his game that I'm hoping he snaps out of.

If Reibe does pretty well this year, that 2nd big will be a Sr or Grad transfer.

Feels like this one got intense really quickly. Is he a late riser in recruiting rankings?

Have only watched highlights but Landrew feels like a very well rounded offensive player for his age. Looks super confident letting it fly in several different situations (transition, off screens, spot up). Looks a bit slow driving off the dribble but that can certainly be worked on later. I’d happily take this. Assuming him and Toure are the two options for the same spot?

Yes, he's a late riser. Football guy that focused on basketball as the main a bit later. He was in the back half of the top 100 earlier this summer, now a 5*. Alongside Holt helped his team win the Adidas circuit.

Why? If staff is confident Reibe is going to start as a soph why not bring in another soph that can be a backup for a year or two and then start as a junior or senior after Reibe goes pro. Like we did with Reed last year. Reed was a junior but that’s because Samson was a senior.

Plus If we bring in a 1 year transfer we’re prob looking at replacing at least 6 guys for 2027 if all goes according to plan: Demary/Mingo/Ball/Ross/Stew/Transfer

Starting to wonder if the energy put in here means a kid like Mingo may fall prey to a bigger bag. Saw some things on UW specifically. More bag programs on his list than top programs, which makes you wonder.

Word on Stokes is USC, treating it as a one year local pit stop. If that’s the mentality these days, does make you wonder if going top 10 is ever worth it. A walk in one year mentality will always seem to veer to NIL driven vs being part of a “program”, unless talking about exceptional kids like Flagg and Castle.

Landrew is a small forward, Mingo is a point guard.

Yeah I don’t think there’s any correlation at all between Mingo and Landrew. Only guy who overlaps with Mingo is County - both both are big combo guards who could definitely play together.

Devils advocate but With Demary expected to be our starting PG next year that would make Mingo the starting SG. So If we don’t get Mingo why couldn’t staff take both Landrew and Samuels? They’re both wings so either could conceivably play SF and/or SG.

Even if we got Mingo we’ll still need a backup transfer PG for 2026 so that wouldn’t change.

It's just not going to happen. We don't want it, they don't want it. 1 wing spot is up for grabs.
