2026 Recruiting: Colben Landrew Official Visit (10/3)

Is that a “smiley” smiley?

Question now is does this close out this class? Or is there any chance Mingo is still in play?
It sounds like this is it for the fall. Things will change in the spring based on who goes, who stays, who decommits from other schools (e.g. Liam) and who is available in portal.

I am guessing they want to avoid a Darius Adams situation again.

Gonna be really curious as to how many of these top kids wait it out for that very reason, ala Ament/Peat/Burries last year. I'm not really sure what the advantage of signing early is for HS kids right now, other than a school pressuring them with NIL. You wait until the spring and you have a much clearer picture of what your suitors rosters will look like the following year.

As of now, only 5 of the top 25 prospects have committed with Missouri doing most of the damage. Landrew will make it 6 tomorrow.

Landrew isn’t projected as a OAD or even a frosh starter necessarily, so avoiding an “Adams situation” must mean we don’t wanna bring in a Mingo type and then have Mullins return. If that’s the case I agree it makes sense to see how the season goes. If Mullins leaves then we need to get a replacement starting wing in the portal. If he stays then great all we need is a backup big.

1st & 2nd string not necessarily the rotation:
Demary / County
Ball / Furphy
Mullins or Transfer / Landrew
Stew / Ross
Reibe / Transfer

All of the coaches have done an unbelievable job creating this unreal culture we offer and also have been exceptional at making players better. We have never relied on an abundance of 5 star talent like our friends in Durham. Our coaches know how to win but I don’t think every kid wants to be pushed hard and we are also very selective in who we offer to.

Fire up the Ruffballs. 😀

4-star SF Colben Landrew

Colben Landrew has a final six with a decision coming on Wednesday. Texas A&M, Purdue, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UConn, and Louisville are the programs that made the final graphic. I am told this became a two-team race between Louisville and UConn. While I am told that Louisville is pushing, speaking with some sources around the recruitment, UConn is the school I have heard the most about.

Mingo and Landrew don't overlap enough for it to be a concern. County is the one to be concerned about.

Mullins is going to be in the league 12 months from now. Book it.

Still waiting on your minutes breakout for the 2029 roster.

Hmmm but If Mullins is a first round draft pick lock then we’re gonna need a replacement starting wing no matter what. Right? Pretty confident that county or Furphy or Ross or Landrew won’t be starting. So Are they waiting on Mingo specifically due to overlapping skill sets with county? Does staff need to go after a more traditional wing in the portal as opposed to a big guard like Mingo? Issue there becomes you’re recruiting directly over LAndrew with a traditional wing. That’s why I didn’t/dont see the issue with getting Mingo now. He’d likely be the third G in a three G lineup with Silas and Ball. County could backup any of those three spots…

I wonder if the kind of season Silas Demary will have is the biggest factor on whether Mingo will commit here or not.
