2026 Recruiting: Colben Landrew goes off vs Tri-Cities: Scoring Highlights

Any idea how many points he scored? Twitter is saying anywhere from 26 to 32

Oh I didn't know that, that's wild
Colben Landrew received a football scholarship offer from Alabama when he was a high school sophomore and he didn’t bat an eye.

He was so focused on basketball, his first love, that he gave up his wide receiver gloves, moved out of Alabaster, Ala., and relocated to the Atlanta area, where hoops was more of a priority. He left a football factory at Thompson High to join a basketball power at Wheeler, where he’d develop under six-time Georgia state champion coach Larry Thompson and see his recruiting stock shoot up.

I absolutely love that! Kid made a decision and committed to it. Me likes this kid already. Gives me Paul Pierce vibes all day. Not saying hes as good or will be just physically and his game.

the jump, the save, the make… (stepped out but don’t worry about that, that body control is crazy)

Kid’s got elite body control — like a bigger stronger Bouknight!

The is kid is thick. Not sure we’ve has a profile like him. It’s going to be interesting to see how Hurley uses him between the 3 and 4.

He was actually a WR in high school who got offered a scholarship from Alabama.
He knows there's a lot more money in the NBA than the NFL and careers are longer. He's no dummy. The only advantage the NFL has is more roster spots.

Colben’s going to be special.

I know we got a good one in Landrew.

genuinely curious...How competitive is this game? I saw the clip, but with the exception of 1st dunk, just a bunch of almost open 3s, and a fast break from a reckless assist from other team... Then I'm super impressed with his elite body control in that out-of-bounds ball sequence.

The game was competitive. Wheeler won by 12-13 points. Overall basketball in that Atlanta area is typically very good. Same league that produced Castle and Issac Collier a couple of years ago.

My thoughts too, he looked great bit there was absolutely no defense played by opposition

Clearly he has next level ability for his size. But these highlight videos are not the best way to judge how good a player is. The only way to really know is to watch multiple games in their entirety against good competition. Also it has to be live because you have to watch everything he does not just when he is in camera view.

But he continues to rise in the ranking for a reason. Let’s eye how the rest of the season plays out. The only thing I would say is at the three he may have some issues as just from this clip his overall quickness could be a factor on how he slots into the rotation. Some threes at the college level who are basically big guards may be too quick for him to stay in front of on defense.

I read the Caron comps but to me I see a better version of Donny Marshall as a comp I would use.

Caron?

I have been thinking of a way to write that he reminds me of Caron but I didn’t know exactly how to say it, or if it fits…but I do see it.

Maybe the fact that the game is different now from 20 years ago makes for differences in their styles, but a guy who does it all with size and strength and can shoot too sounds like Caron.

Finally a wing who can play some “bully” ball for us.
Through the years we have fell victim to these type of players. It would be nice to have one.
