Well then you remember incorrectly, go read the threadsI don't recall many "people unenthused", I remember more intimating that these two guys are "Plan B".

You're wrong. A lot of posters like him defensively but don't like his offensive game at this point and think his ranking is a little inflated.I don't recall many "people unenthused", I remember more intimating that these two guys are "Plan B".
I got to”coach” Lyman in a charity game several years ago. Never considered a shooter at UConn, in the charity game he was draining on corner jumper after another. I asked him why he didn’t do more of that during UConn games. He said something to the effect that when he took a few during practice scrimmages a loud voice would yell “Hey you, off the court”. Funny, and I don’t know how true.Like what i saw in his game..powerful, athletic, decent shot...a little Lyman Depriest ish :}

Exactly how I feel. He is a 4 def not a 3. Hurley wants to play 4 out so not sure where he fits in. He is a beast so hard to pass on these hard nose players.Idk folks I really like the player and we’re clearly prioritizing him but my god the kid just can’t shoot. He’d be a 5 star if he were an average shooter. If we land him I hope the plan is to use him at PF in the Whaley role. Hell he could probably play some center.
Ya but 1-1 when jumping from the stripe1-8 from the stripe is brutal but the kid is a beast.

Even the guy who takes jumpers at the FT line? I'm dubious.They're just plain better players.

I’m no Hurley apologist I begged him to take people that could create a shot last offseason and to not start the lineup we did that was so limited offensively and a lot of us were totally unenthused by Middleton. The vids I saw were just a bigger kid scoring in HS. Didn’t look like a natural scorer to me. Highly ranked obviously but more athlete/long than skilled.I don't recall many "people unenthused", I remember more intimating that these two guys are "Plan B".
And a good guy.He was tuff as nail, powerful, athletic, and a nice little mid range game...when coach let him shoot :}
I read that mega-Middleton thread. Just one guy in the 125th post stated he'd rather have Carr and that was it for the negativity until it looked like he wasn't coming. Which is my point. This post is what I call weirdly confrontational.For a portion of the board, yes. You can read through all the Middleton threads to see people unenthused by him even when they thought we were the leaders.
@husky429 who breaks down players all the time said he was a non shooter and he couldn’t get excited about him. A few other people mentioned how his highlight was filled with defense which wasn’t too much to get enthused about. Why is this the hill you want to die on?I read that mega-Middleton thread. It does seem like we’re on the outside looking in for Carr. Either that, or he’s not a major target. I disagree about an uphill battle for Stewart, though. Geography aside, it appears we could be the frontrunner if we decide to make a strong push. I’d be content with Stewart and Singare. It does not appear we’re out on Estrella, either.![]()
4-star Coen Carr sets Tennessee, Michigan State officials; wants to visit South Carolina, Georgia
July 26, 2022 - On3 caught up with 4-star SF Coen Carr at Peach Jam and went in depth about his recruiting and upcoming visits.www.on3.com
Hmm...no mention of the good guys here and seems like a guy who may be wanting to stay in the south. I know we seem to be prioritizing him and Stewart, but feel like we're in an uphill battle in terms of location for both. This is why alot of the time it's important to win the local recruiting battles, but for whatever reason we seemed to have backed off the local guys this year.
as the only p6 university in new england (not counting BCU), we should be the team to beat for elite new england recruits, plain and simple.I know we seem to be prioritizing him and Stewart, but feel like we're in an uphill battle in terms of location for both. staff just spent an hour on the phone with his grandpa idk how much stronger they can be pushingGeography aside, it appears we could be the frontrunner if we decide to make a strong push.
carr is from GA but he did say SC was "second closest to home" so it could still be a deciding factorWith G. G. Jackson decommitting from UNC and committing to his home state University of South Carolina I would suspect that more SC players might take a second look at staying home
