That's really surprising. That says a lot about his character that he didn't jump at the first semi good job. He is waiting for a first tier offering. Michigan, OSU, Penn St, ND. MSU isn't a bad job....but... It first tier. Cincy dodged a bullet.
My guess is his wife wanted no part of raising 6 kids in East Lansing. Having spent time in both cities, Cincy is a much, much nicer place to live. It's not even close. That Msu job is not all it's cracked up to be particularly with all the bad stuff that has gone on there. Fickell is smart enough to contemplate having to compete with Osu, Penn St. and Michigan on an annual basis. He made a good move. He's tailor made for ND when Kelly leaves or is booted. Truth is Dantonio has been at best average since Narduzzi left. Fickell has blown Msu's doors off recruiting wise, and taken a lot of kids they were in play for. The real offer evidently was not going to double his pre tax pay. Lot of misinformation out there. His stock will not go down. He can be choosy with the war chest of talent he's accumulated. Kids like to play for him as well.
