But not for long. I think Tennessee will win the SEC, and if Duke wins the ACC, they'll end up at #5.

Full Top 25

Georgetown is not getting enough respect, no way should they be ranked below RU.

Can anyone explain how UT looses to Notre Dame and then goes up in the Polls?

Actually, the previous Coaches' poll had registered that loss already. They were in a three-way tie for #9 with Green Bay and Ohio State afterward. Ohio State's loss to Minnesota caused voters to choose between the LVs and Green Bay, and they went LVs.

No matter. LVs will be ranked a two seed by the selection committee, and probably ranked #6 when the final pre-tourney polls come out.

totally agree. Georgetown stomped RU. it wasn't really close. i get that RU was without Rushdan who was injured, but to have RU at 14 and GT at 15 seems odd.

It doesn't matter that TN's lost to ND was already factored in, they lost 72 to 44 that is a whoppin'...they have not beaten anyone of consequence since to justify moving up to the number 8. Meanwhile ND lost to the number three team by 16 they should have stayed in the 5th position.

They didn't have to beat anybody. Maryland lost to a horrible Virginia Tech team, so someone was going to move up. Ohio State lost to Minnesota, so it wasn't going to be them, and the LVs got the figurative nod over Green Bay.

Of anyone that might have moved up, the LVs also had the most impressive win- a 17 victory over Georgia in Athens. Not a "set the world on fire" kind of victory, but better than anything Green Bay can claim.

Of course Green Bay gave Baylor all they could handle last year in Dallas. Maybe they're undervalued.

CF, I think you meant to say that "Duke lost to number three team by sixteen. . . ."

Thanks Kibitzer...yep you nailed it I meant to say Duke lost to the number three team by 16...I also meant to say "whoopin' instead of whoppin' mind working faster than my fingers.

I'd still put Duke at #5.

I'm not that impressed with Kentucky. They have some very close wins and a loss to MTSU. Other than Mathies, they seem scoring challenged. I think they are pretty good, but still think Duke is the #5 team. I'd put Kentucky at 6.

The Kentucky men's team, on the other hand, ....

Green Bay may be one of the best coached teams around. Better than the orange school in the mountains.

G'town's first 2 losses almost shouldn't count. Rodgers was not 100%, and they were still getting their act together without McNutt. Since then, they beat the crap out of both Rutgers and Miami.

Georgetown is a bit inconsistent, but they're not a team I'd want to see in my bracket as a 4/5 seed if I'm a 1.

I see the argument both ways with Duke and Kentucky. On the one hand, UK owns the head-to-head. On the other, UK has by far the worst loss, really a loss no top-five team should have on their resume in WCBB. In any case, I think UK loses twice to the LVs and drops back to #7 when all is said and done. And then Duke, UK, and Tennessee all end up as #2s along with Miami/Maryland/Ohio State/someone else.

I have no problem with Duke being #6 and UK being #5 right now. I agree that I think UTenn will win the SEC regular season and tourney. In the ACC... Currently Duke is 8-0, and Miami is 8-1. I think we will lose at Maryland.... and that Miami will also lose at Maryland. That will set u a showdown for the regular season title on Feb 24 in Durham.

I don't know why people are giving the LV's the SEC tourney title. The tourney is not in Knoxville, and that team does not play very well anywhere else.

Because they lost by one point in Lexington, and the rest of the league other than UK and Tenn is, to quote Charles Barkley, turrible.

Right and they also lost at Virginia. My point is they are very inconsistent on the road, so IMO they are far from automatic winners of that tourney.

The tourney is in Nashville. It's not quite as comfortable as playing at home, but it will be a virtual home environment for Tennessee. Anything can happen in a single-elimination tournament I suppose, but no one other than Kentucky plays the LVs with any heart in that league. And of late, Lexington has been a tough place for the LVs to play. If UK can only beat the LVs by a point at their place, I don't seem them doing it in front of heavily partisan crowds in Nashville. It would tickle me pink to be wrong, BTW.
