What I've been told is, on defense, the percentage is very high.

So that begs the question (based on PP's strong background on the D side of the ball) - Is HH over his head?

Wonder how much he would "veto" DB last year?

Meeting time - it's all there. He looked defeated. He looked like he was trying to defend himself, but knew there was nothing he could do. I don't know, I got a sense just watching and listening to his demeanor that he's not going to be around much longer, take it for what you will. Link is up there - I'm not confident heading in.

In order to shake this sense of utter disappointment about this game for which I've waited a long time to see, I feel the need to go positive about our chances in spite of P not having anything good to say.

This team, Michigan, is no better than the Louisville team we beat on the road last year. In fact, I don't think they are as good as last years UL team.

Our O is same ol, same ol. D isn't as talented but you can make up for talent on D with heart.

So long as they don't get caught up in the Michigan mystique I've seen building around this game, I think M is in for a fight and I the ball bounces our way we can win.

Besides, the way the FB gods have been screwing with this program, a P-job saving win sounds about right ... drat, almost made it.

You would never know from that press conference he is No. 3 in the country on the hot seat chart. Of course, you wouldn't know that UConn is 104th in the country in rushing defense, either. Bizarro World

You know this is the part that drives me up a wall... our offense has been in the 100s for three years... you couldn't do worse if you went out and tried to, and it feels like they get a pass from the horde.

The plot thickens

KJK9183 at about 11:30 p.m. last Saturday night
TW and PP are oil and vinegar and WM is very aware. The locker room is divided and Weist was pissed after Towson and called a 45 to 14 loss tonight only because that's what PP would cause. PP was also over riding offensive play calls versus Townson. Considering the change of play calling after the first drive Im sure it happened again.

PP at press conference today on how he lets coordinators operate:
Sometimes I do like to change some things, I mean I'm the head coach and have the power to veto.

The question remains is what is the percentage changed and what is the industry norm?

DC tweet about story coming out later today
#UConn offensive coordinator Weist: "From Coach Pasqualoni's standpoint we (coordinators) have complete autonomy. I am calling the plays."

Will be interested to see the definition and context of "complete autonomy". "Sometimes I make changes" tells me P MAKES CHANGES.

As said before P could go to TJW and say "I'd like to see X" the next series. TJ on paper gets credit for "calling" the subsequent plays when in reality he was calling plays PP "suggested", which I don't think was what Warde had in mind last winter.

Don't think anyone suggesting overrides are happening in real time on the field - a TJ play call goes in and then the guys in red start going nuts with a PP counter-order, like a pitcher shaking off a catcher, to change the play about to be run.

The issue is how much PP's brilliant offensive "philosophy" put on for all to see the past two years is seeping into TJ's playcalling. Will be very interested to see how indepth TJ gets on the play-call protocol.

Paul you said you don’t like to coach with distraction, is this week a positive distraction?
A: Our players have played against Michigan. Our players in this program have played against big teams. I think the kids understand. I’m not gonna get up in front of them and say this is the Michigan Wolverines. I’m so thick headed there were no distractions for me last week. I had a good time last week preparing and believe it or not I was sad the game ended to tell you the truth cause I don’t’ know how many people were having fun, but I was believe it or not. I was FRUSTRATED but I was having fun. I was frustrated as hell, but I enjoyed every minute of that game. You know, that game had a chance to be HMMM (actual quote) a heck of a game, it really did. And we let that one slip away, no taking anything away from Maryland, they came in prepared and worked really hard. This week we are going to do the same thing, enjoy the grind this week, preparation, play at 8 o’clock in front of the home fans on national TV in a great atmosphere. I want the seniors to realize it. It doesn’t get any better than this, playing at home in their senior year against a quality opponent on ABC TV.

"You know, that game had a chance to be hmmm a heck of a game, it really did. And we let that one slip away, not taking anything away from Maryland, (or Vanderbilt, WMU, Iowa State, NC State, Temple, Towson) they came in and worked really hard."

They are who we thought they were! It is time for Mister Martini, Chief, the medicine cart, and "Hey someone get me an duck__n hot dog!"
