If I hear technique one more time........

2 plays back is what Coach P wants. Just 2 plays.

Oh boy - someone asked about no sacks yet on the season.

Coach P responds - we have to tackle.

Reporter responds - BUT you haven't even been CLOSE

Then diatribe that we don't have experience at pass rush.

Lyle - 2.6 yards per carry - is he not seeing the hole?

Coach P - we need a couple of these runs to come out of there, not 10, but we need a couple a week. It's a combination of the guys up front including the tight ends and receivers finishing their block. But also Lyle hitting the right hole and not trying to do too much. I'm optimistic we will get more out of there.

Follow-up ?: Would yo ulike to see him attack more instead of side to side.

Coach P - design of defense is making him move around

I'd like to have more run calls, but if you get behind and with Geremy, Shak and Deshon, we feel like we can get back in it with the pass. If we get up we will definitely run more.

First 2 years Don and George calling plays, experienced guys, now to TJ, how has mgmt changed and how much influence do you have on scheme:

I've always talked to both of the guys that call the plays (offense and defense). They are both (Hughes/Weist) well organized and do a very good job with it. No problem getting plays in on time. Hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot with the new guys and sometimes I do like to change some things, I mean I'm the head coach and have the power to veto.

Paul you said you don’t like to coach with distraction, is this week a positive distraction?
A: Our players have played against Michigan. Our players in this program have played against big teams. I think the kids understand. I’m not gonna get up in front of them and say this is the Michigan Wolverines. I’m so thick headed there were no distractions for me last week. I had a good time last week preparing and believe it or not I was sad the game ended to tell you the truth cause I don’t’ know how many people were having fun, but I was believe it or not. I was FRUSTRATED but I was having fun. I was frustrated as hell, but I enjoyed every minute of that game. You know, that game had a chance to be HMMM (actual quote) a heck of a game, it really did. And we let that one slip away, no taking anything away from Maryland, they came in prepared and worked really hard. This week we are going to do the same thing, enjoy the grind this week, preparation, play at 8 o’clock in front of the home fans on national TV in a great atmosphere. I want the seniors to realize it. It doesn’t get any better than this, playing at home in their senior year against a quality opponent on ABC TV.

Someone better send that over to Des 'cause he said no way......

He just spilled the beans that he has been calling plays on offense and defense. Something we knew on the BY yet the horde said it wasn't true or were afraid to ask.

#crazytalk -Direct quote from him.

It was suggested on twitter earlier today the idea that the idea TJ is not calling all the plays was #crazytalk. Sounds to me PP just confirmed 100 perecent of the play calls aren't TJs. Now that PP himself says he changes things. Would love to know what percentage "sometimes" is.

He should not be having fun. He should have smoke coming out of his ears and be as f*&%ing far from having fun as I am when I'm mowing the lawn. If he's not genuinely ready to explode during and after either game, he has lost it. But I guess we all knew that.

As does every head coach in college football. Not sure that is a revelation.

The question remains is what is the percentage changed and what is the industry norm?

Q: Paul what do you want the people who come to watch Michigan to take away about UCONN?
A: I want them to see a good solid football team that knows how to play and handle themselves on the field. Can play offense, defense, special teams. It doesn’t have to be super fancy, doesn’t have to be real sexy, just good, solid, sound football is what I would like it to be. That’s what it’s all about to me.
Q: Home field advantage, they put in some additional stands, how concerned are you about home field advantage?
A: I think our fans will be louder than their fans, I think they’ll be excited to be there. I’m sure the Michigan people, as many as can get their hands on their tickets and they’ll get there. One year we played Army up in the Carrier Dome and they had an undefeated season going, it was like 1998 and they wanted extra tickets so Jake obliged and gave them for the whole corp of cadets. So we walk out on the field and we see a sea of Cadets. Jake was down on the field so I say Jake what did you do? Do you know how loud these guys are gonna be today? You know, we’ve been through this before, but I think it’s gonna add to the fun, add to the excitement of the game and give our fans motivation to be louder than their fans. So everybody better, we need all hands on deck Saturday night, we need everybody.
Joe Williams still suspended.

I don't know whether to hope that he did or did not say this.

What I've been told is, on defense, the percentage is very high.

Q: Michigan Offense
A: Their offensive system is very multiple. They are a 2 back team, and run traditional team. They throw PAP. They are a 2 TE team, which are both very athletic. And then they have a 3 WR system and in short yardage they have the 2 backs and 2 TEs. Most of what they do is very multiple. Two back, power stuff, play action. The 2 TE stuff where they spread you out and run the ball with zone read stuff and throw the ball. And the 11 stuff. They do a lot.
